front bumper is a replacement that was finished in black, but I need to refinish it. Back bumper was chrome, got scuffed, etching primed and bedlinered. Mirror caps were factory body color painted (limited) but faded and got wrapped, that faded, then wrap removed, scuffed, primed and bedlinered. Same for side trim. All the badging got plastidipped.

Wrap is a temporary fix with future pain. Just gonna get it painted.

Washed it. Tried the H4 headlight harness with the colight projectors. Not a huge difference if I’m going to be honest. New CAPA cert headlight housings went in. Just waiting on the clear corner lights. I’ll probably hang onto the black housings and colight just in case I don’t love this rabbit hole I’m going down. lol.

Only thing that has kept me from running these is that I figure the stick won't last forever and they'll be drooping down at some point. For $33 I probably should just give it a go (I don't need the fancy colors)

Prep with isopropyl alcohol or glass cleaner - never use a detailer. Grab a can of adhesion promotor (I believe these come with a little swab of them?) then install. The adhesion promotor basically turns it into super glue and is way more resilient to heat and the adhesive failing.

I did these in 2019. So 6 years later they look like this. A little fade, but not much chipping really.

It’s nice to have the option to dim and switch between regular white light, and green or red for the conditions. When we park before dawn on hunting trips the red or green on dim helps preserve night vision.

Also, I just stuck mine up there and they have been great. Comes with what looks just like the 3M trim and body tape on the back. If you have carpeted headliner, you can put Velcro on the back instead.

    Finished the airbags.

    image.jpg

I didn't think about the plastic over the bumper...but this'll work.

    image.jpg

And I almost forgot I had done this while I was in temporary self-exile. I could not get the damn front diff drain plug out. Took it to a friend's who welds, figuring we'd weld a nut onto it. But this tool was all it took.

    image.jpg

    image.jpg

Installed this while I was there. I love the concept, but I don't love how far it hangs down. Hopefully it's never an issue.

I have a fumoto drain plug valve. Hangs a little low too, but with an aftermarket oil pan skid, its a non issue.

Good tips. Hadn't given any of that much thought. The inside of my topper looks like bare fiberglass but it might be coated I'm not for sure of the top of my head, that probably isn't the best surface for adherence.
Yeah I see your point about color, I probably won't even use mine much honestly. For only $10 more though it might be worth it.

Interesting. Funny how it’s usual the first year of a new model that has a problem, not this where it’s better than the rest… at least for the LBJs haha
Used JB weld on a radiator leak before and never thought about it again… works well sometimes :anonymous:
Oooo nice. I was just over at a Joann’s looking at fabric options. Thinking I might use a little wood rod and some Velcro for curtains

The new unit comes in sometime tomorrow, so we postponed our wrenching plans til next week. Apart from putting off crucial mods for T2S, it's actually going to be better for both us of to wait.

I'm kinda pissed I went with heavier-duty ones. I've banged up my back window's lower aluminum panel because I failed to catch it a couple of times now, and it smacked into the garage door. It opens pretty violently. I think I'd prefer going several pounds less force, and about an inch shorter.

Have you tried only using one strut?
I got too heavy duty of struts too, so I kept one worn out one and replaced the other. It still has plenty of power.
Iirc I got 38lbs and I should've gotten 30lbs. I definitely feel like mine should've been an inch shorter as well.

I dunno if my OCD would allow me to do that.

But yeah, similar story. I got the 35lb and I think I should've gotten the 28.
