Greetings All, I just received a recall notice for engine replacement on my 2022 Tundra. When I called the dealership, I was informed that they would need to inspect the vehicle to make sure an engine replacement would be necessary. Based on the recall information sent by Toyota, it did not indicate that an engine inspection would be conducted before a replacement. For those of you who have had your engine replaced did you go through this type of process before your engine was replaced? I go in next Tuesday for the inspection. Thanks in advance for any input you can provide!

If your truck is included in the recall, there is no inspection. You get a new engine. Period. Find a different dealership.

Or call Toyota HQ and open a case.
They will clear their rectum real fast.

Thanks. Hopefully, it won't come to that...but, if necessary, I will definitely take your advice.

For some reason my dealer said the same thing. Came in. They had it for 5 min, checked the vin, and then ordered the engine. Weird since they called me asking for me to come in for the recall.

Maybe they needed to verify the vin# and if everything is legit since as i heard they cannot return the motor.
Maybe i'm wrong, dealers are weird kind of creatures

That is the first step in operational procedures...verify VIN order engine.

My local Toyota dealer is the same on every recall. I made an appointment tell them I want a recall done usually in conjunction with routine service. Everytime appointment 1 I show up they tell me "got it we will order parts". They will never do a recall without seeing me and the truck first on a time waster visit

Usually no follow up either so I have to call, check if parts came in and schedule the 2nd appointment myself

I hate this dealer. But all others are far away.

The local Nissan dealer for my wife's vehicle is 10x better than this motley crew

I may go thru the sales dealer even though he is 2 hours away for engine transplant. My local one will probably keep the truck a year to do it

My dealer does the same. It is pointless to make an appointment online thinking they would actually do the work that day. IDK why they operate this way when they have the VINs and all the information they need to order the parts and schedule the work without physically seeing the vehicle.
