I recently installed the Wholesale Automatic Transmission cooler. I had to purchase the thermostat and extra 10 feet of hose. Installation was pretty straight forward and a few little issues that were resolved with a trip to the local hardware store. So far no issues.

There are So Many options at 1/4 the price - just do a little shopping. Research the Desert LC setup - no thermostat - just 2 OEM fittings - braided hoses and a cooler - EZ peasey.

No thermostat? That's not good in the winter when the fluid needs to warm up. Also hoses vs hard lines under the truck not the best idea in the world although it will work just at a greater risk of failure.

Look it up - its for Real and down in mid to south texas there is no real winter of any kind anymore. OEM connections to straight piples are available for the 5.7 LC.

Same as Pinning but without spending the big bucks for an OEM thermostat.

Unless it's like 40 below winter and 80 MPH on highway, it won't need to heat up that much. I have a car with Aisin transmission that has coolant-ATF heat exchanger and then ATF radiator. In Boston "winter" it heats up to like 130 and that's it. Drives like it should for the past 10+ years.

Forgot to post! Trans kit + Deep pan installed both a few weeks ago. Used OBDFusion + Veepeak BLE+ to get the temp readings, took a while to reach the target at 66'F ambient.
Happy with the results and ready for summer :D
Couple mishaps with the trans fluid, but I was happy that I finally got to use a transfer pump I had laying around for like two years.
The hardlines were the worst part of it, finding the right rotation more specifically.

The OEM pan was messed up so it was time to go, some idiot overtorqued the drain plug and decidedly spread rtv over it to keep it from leaking... maybe leaked a drop every month.

Patience ! honestly, I could not replicate it without trying multiple times, though I did feed the lines back-to-front and just went slowly without forcing it.
Mark one of the lines with your method of choice to ID which one is in/out so you don't forget and tape the ends to keep stuff out.
It's not hard, just takes trial and error.

What ever you do don't try and put the hard lines in with the hoses to the cooler already attached to them, I seen someone suggested that so I tried it and it only made it 10x harder.

I usually remote start my truck in the winter to allow the fluid to warm up to 60°. My guess is without a thermostat and that fluid going through the cooler it's going to take longer to warm up. I agree if your a start and go guy it's probably not going to make a huge difference but the optimal fluid temp is around 185° but the transmission shifts different below 60° to try and get the fluid up to temp fast by hanging onto gears longer.

Standstill it heats up almost as quickly. Radiators - or fluid-air heat exchangers, to be correct - don't radiate energy much per se, and don't do much energy transfer to air if there's no air flowing through them. It's literally that extra ATF volume, steel/rubber lines and aluminum in radiator that require extra energy for heating.

No, I'm polluting air needlessly. Not watching Tiktok, scrolling Facebook nor using ChatGPT, so I have eco credits to spend on warming my cars up in winter and mow lawn with gasoline-powered garden tractor in summer ;)
