Fog light switch and spot lights

I live in the northwest of Arizona and drive a lot of dirt roads at night. My headlights and fog lamps aren’t cutting it. When coming up to an intersection in the middle of the desert, it is hard to see if anyone is standing on the corner or about to cross. A cyclist was there once and caused me to swerve to avoid.

I purchased a set of that have lights that flood out to the sides. I am going to install them using a bracket that attaches to the hood bolts and exit out the cowl side.

I purchased the for the lights but now I am wondering, do you guys know if I can use an additional original fog light switch from another truck, and wire it to the empty slot on my knee panel.

I read on this forum that the switch part number is 84160-0C010.

 

This topic is covered in great detail already in other threads. Our trucks are pre-wired for fogs. In the steel bumper models, the plugs are there, you just need housings and a button. The button is no longer made, but used works fine. There's also a relay you need to add. I have no doubt you'll find the thread using search with the terms: Fogs bumper relay switch

In later models ('03+?) there is no dash button; fogs move to the stalk.

Thank you. I think I just needed a point in the right direction. I think @The Black Mamba has the same setup I want to get done with the two oe switches. I’ll look into that.

 

I used regular 3 pos switch as the fog light switch would need to be modified to be able to use your adfitional light w hi beams.

Basically you need the foglight housings, a switch in the dash (your harness is plugged into the back of your blank plate), and a relay to plug into the location @BluegrapeVr6 shows in that reply.

For any future readers catching this, if you have a 2003+ the switch moved to the blinker stalk on your year. You'll need to upgrade the stalk. I've posted the part number a few times on here, but I can pull it again if you can't find it. Other than that, you should also be pre-wired and it should be the same process (generally speaking, though there are small differences for fuse & relay locations through the years and diff't cab types)

 

Toyota was quite smart with this to streamline their wire harnesses. They also did the same thing with the 1st gen scion xB. Fog lights were also optional, and all you have to do to add them was to plug in a relay, find some knockoff plug n play clone fog lights on fleabay, and buy an oem switch. Done and done.
