    Fortunately, you should just need to tell them to test the battery, they'll probably have a battery tester similar to mine, and it'll clearly tell you the voltage "OCV" (12.5v in this case) and the cranking amps "CA" (671 in this case), and the cold cranking amps "CCA" (537 in this case). It also tests outputs other factors of the battery that are maybe important or not (DIN, AHR).

    And the tester will read "BAT GOOD" or "BAT BAD", as mine shows it was BAT BAD and then says it more clearly on the 2nd screen. If they have a printer attached, it'll print out a report with all this info, easier-to-read.

    Fortunately, they make it stupid simple

    Awesome! Exact info with pictures.
    I have no idea who will be working when I get a ride to the store.

    Thank you!

    Oh, stupid simple is often too hard for me because I have a traumatic brain injury and have no help at the moment.

    But I'm not ignorant, just simple.

    And I've got screenshots now!

    Thanks again, Shifty!

    TBI = no fun. Bummer.

    But let's be real: "Stupid simple" stuff is also hard for rocket scientists. So relish in the fact that you're probably no worse off than a rocket scientist. :rofl:

    Actually, shifty, I am much better off than a rocket scientist! (And so are you - there IS water in your water fountain, and there always will be, if you keep putting some in.)
    I know more about physics than they (those who spend their entire careers working in the field of physics ranging from quantum to particle to theoretical to astro, etc) actually do. But I find All of life interesting, and curious!

    I would like to say thank you to everyone who has participated in this conversation. What started as something like "Get a new battery" came back around to the same answer, but with more detailed information about batteries and more problems that have been ruled out and solved for the future.

    It will be storming where I am for the next couple of days, so I won't be getting a new battery until whoever offers to take me feels like going out in the weather. But it's all good. (I can have one delivered, if necessary.)

    However, if the new battery doesn't solve the real problem, then I know where to come back to for more ideas. Right here. Thank each of you again.

    Stay tuned...

    Like @shifty` said, jump starting may not work with a discharged or bad battery. Can swap in a known good one. Easy test to diagnose and can get a new 27F at Costco. Can also trickle charge it for 24-48 hours at LAPS or at home and try again. Have had discharged batteries that yested bad but then resurrected albeit with depleted capacity after charging. Can charge and retest CCA. In future when storing a vehicle for a while can put on a battery tender like this one for about $7 when on sale at HF.

    Thanks, ToyotaDude.

    I appreciate the info. I'm having a new battery delivered today. (No one has offered me a ride yet, and now it's pouring rain outside.) So stay tuned! I'll post an update here as soon as I know if that solved my problems.

    Thanks again.

    UPDATE FOR EVERYONE:

    My new battery was delivered. It is now installed. And all of the my original vehicle issues have been solved! (No one here ever offered me a ride, unfortunately.)
    After it stops raining, I'm going to drive to where I purchased the new battery, give them my old one, and have them test to make sure that my alternator is, in fact charging, too.

    Thank you, all of you, for being a part of this conversation. I know where to come back if I can't solve any future issues with my 1st Gen Tundra.

    Great job!!!

    That's good news.

    To anyone reading this thread;
    I bought one of these fairly cheap battery testers.
    It tests voltage, cranking, and charging..

    I just did the same thing! Thanks for the heads up on the 40% coupon! Living in AZ heat eats batteries. It will be nice to know they are on their way out before they are out.
