Wanted to write this after I bought the dasaita g13 for my tundra due to alot of mixed reviews the head unit is not as expensive as a alpine or kenwood at around $600 but its still not throw away money like the hundred dollar ebay units ,so when i decided to upgrade my headunit i watched all the videos and read all the posts on the forums because you can never get enough info on a non name brand item when your looking to buy … going to try to keep this thread updated with the status of the unit the good stuff and any issues that occur , any tips or tricks i find and if you have any questions before u buy that i can check on my headunit for u. Im not affiliated with dasaita or anything like that but i know before i bought this there were questions i had that i couldnt find answers to and thats what this forum is all about ..
I bought the dasaita g13 8/256 gig unit for my 2015 non jbl tundra , before i purchased the unit i spent a good amount of time going back and fourth with someone from dasaita on their instagram messenger and i will give them this , they were super helpful like above and beyond and i hadnt spent a dime with them yet . I was trying to figure out the difference between the two units they had listed for the tundra , the g13 and the vivid (turns out they are the same units but different interface) the person i delt with went as far as to wire up both units side by side on a bench and send me multiple videos of the units showcasing different things they did and how they looked and operated. I ordered the unit it was here in 3 days , supposedly had everything i needed in the box and was plug and play, inside the box everything was packaged like a top name brand would be expected ,they even include the pry tools to take the dash apart. Unit looked beautiful, two sets of wire harnesses (2014-2018 and 2018-up) , mic, wifi antenna, gps antenna and ton of usb and av cables .install was exactly as they claimed , the instructions have pictures and labels of everything all plug and play, everything could only go in one spot and only the factory xm plugs , and gps were left over but i did order a adaptor to use the factory gps antenna instead of the one sent just for sake of less loose wires in the dash. I didnt run the mic that came with it , ill see how the internal mic works and if its no good ill upgrade to the enfig mic just because i dont want wires or a mic visible anywhere. Steering wheel buttons and back up cam all worked out of the box no issues with those. I will say the display wakes the interior of the truck right up and i didnt hate the factory radio but wow what a difference . Now if your someone that likes to customize stuff this radio lets you change all kinds of settings to your liking from button colors to placement of apps and everything in between and if thats not ur thing its good to go the way it is out the box. Sound quality , it plays louder then factory which is great but dont expect some great soundsystem , the eq on the headunit lets you squeeze out alittle better sound but system is limited by the factory speakers, my speakers are all still factory and have the factory amp under the pass seat. I played around alittle with the wifi using my phone as a hotspot ,got things like youtube and netflix to work, bluetooth and car play are flawless so far . The radio tuner is ok i have a stubby antenna on my truck so my radio didnt get shit for stations with the factory radio so i cant really compare . As the weather gets better i have a front camera to install and ill update when thats done and the camera app also lets you view the rear camera while driving instead of just reverse which is pretty cool , i have a set of tvs for my headrests for the kids that ill also be installing as the weather gets better . If you look em up on youtube u can find guys reviewing these units and they all post codes for like 5% off the price but i find the dasaita store on Amazon usually has decent coupons for like 50 bucks off or if your really patient i see them announcing sales on their instagram for certain models and can get them for a decent price if you wait for it . Like i said im going to try and keep this updated with the good bad and ugly , unit has a one year warranty. any questions let me know i just installed it so im learning as i go but so far im happy with the purchase , theres alot to learn with this as im a iphone guy and im assuming this is how a android tablet would work

Few of us have done the same unit recently and some more info in there if you run into some of the same situations we did. I am loving mine so far as well, have had a few random reboots in the middle of driving that I am not quite sure the cause but other than that it has been great.

Hi, I have a 2020 Tundra with JBL and would like to use the factory GPS and factory microphone with new Dasaita G13. What adapters do I need to purchase?

Factory mic doesnt work and i havent found an adaptor but i ordered
    https://shop.enfigcarstereo.com/product/enfig-mic-toy1/
which plugs into the dasaita and plugs into factory mic spot on overhead console, havent installed it yet but i was told i sound muffled with the dasaita built in mic, i didnt run the external mic that comes with the head unit .
    Factory gps adaptor is
    https://www.discountcarstereo.com/sumi-fakra.html

this plugs into the headunit and factory gps and works perfect… i will say i ran the gps antenna that came with the with the head unit til this adaptor came in and i had it just thrown under the dash and still worked perfectly i just couldnt live with the factory gps wire floating around in there

I've had my G13 installed for better than a month now. Learning new tidbits about it every week. I purchased and downloaded PowerAmp Player which has much more capability than the music player that comes on the G13. I've not been able to configure the music button on the bottom of the screen to kick off PowerAmpx however. It seems to be locked onto the default music player app. I'm curious if anyone else has reconfigured the bottom edge buttons to activate a different app other than the default music player or map apps.

Mine is a dud. Bought it just a few days ago and installed it. Now the audio cuts off whenever it feels like it with a loud buzzzzzzzzzzzzz, sometimes just cuts off silent. It will randomly come back on. Returning it. I liked it the unit too.

Not even the radio tuner works or videos on the USB when this happens so it's not the cutting the wireless off, the only thing that sounds are the buttons.

Has anyone noticed that there is a small ~3 second delay on the audio when using the CarPlay? Everytime I try to watch to a video when I’m parked connected to the CarPlay, the audio does not match the display on my phone. Let me know if anybody has had any luck fixing that.

Correct, I mean when I'm watching something on my phone and listening through CarPlay. I have connected to CarPlay on other vehicles and don't seem to have this issue. It only happens with the Dasaita unit. It's not a big deal, but it gets annoying every now and then.

My joying head unit is the same way through the wireless android auto. Never took note if it was the same through the wired android auto. Even changing songs from phone seems to be delayed sometimes. I've also noticed the time counter on the screen for a song is often ahead of the audio. Not always but sometimes. Seems to always be a slight delay. Sometimes it can be more than slight, but not often.

Did you have to do anything special to get the sim card to work? I bought one online from T-mobile and with it inserted I'm not getting any internet connection to use youtube, netflix, playstore etc. It shows that there is a T-mobile sim card recognized in the settings and that there is data available on the card. I see you were saying you have a "Digits only" sim card.

According to the T-Mobile sales person I dealt with you have to go to one of the stores.I was told the SIM from Walmart or online will not work. The one I purchased from the store works perfectly and is $10 per month for digits only SIM...her words

Hmm. Ok ill have to head to a store and give that a shot. The one I bought was $10 a month as well. Weird that it recognizes it in the radio but doesn't actually do anything. Thanks for the reply.

I'm wondering if any G13 users have experimented with any android apps that you like and would recommend.

I downloaded PowerAmp and the YAPS front end for it and have been very pleased with them both. PowerAmp replaces my stock music player, and has an impressive equalizer with numerous presets. YAPS provides such a wide range of configuration options for the appearance for PowerAmp. I'll be tweaking it for quite some time. I've also been exploring a replacement app for the AM/FM tuner. I installed the free version of NavRadio. It's configuration options are limited in the free version, but I was shocked by the number of FM stations in pulled in on the first search. I'm planning of spending $6 on the "Plus" version in the near future.

Has anyone else found an android app you're impressed with?
