Aftermarket CAI causing failed smog in CA, help!

So like the title says I have an 08 Tundra with the 5.7 that I got out of state. It has a K&N CAI and that is causing it to fail smog. I called my local Toyota dealership and they want $475 for a stock one which is insanely overpriced, does anyone have any ideas? Anyone have a stock one for sale? Or Roman from cool springs, can you give me a reasonable price on one?

 

Or anyone in Bakersfield with a stock one willing to swap for an hour or two for some money or beer?

 

Figure out the part number for the intake. Look it up on K&N's website and see if its carb legal. If it is, contact K&N and i bet they will send you the sticker for it, and it will then pass the visual test.

edit: Just looked...."not for sale or use in California" Bummer!

 

Yeah I looked at the website and saw that too. But it's only $300, that's why I can't imagine paying $475 for a stock one that's just insane

 

Do a search for stock intake and PM some of the guys who have taken theirs off. Might get lucky with someone trying to get rid of theirs for cheap. Most of those guys who have taken theirs off probably have them lying around in the garage with nothing to do with it.

No I haven't tried a salvage yard yet but I've been to some around here and it's all hondas and crappy junk cars... you trying to sell your stock one man?

Sorry the stock is going on for about an hour tops to get smogged then the k&n is going right back on haha. I'll save the stock for 2 years from now when I need it smogged again, sorry bro

I bought mine on ebay 2 years ago. It was pretty cheap if I recall. Same reason as you.
