Tested Ali Express. 9 days later and a decent Chinese carbon fiber shift knob showed up.

since i sold the 4Runner, i finally had money and time to pick up parts for my tundra and am finding some time to work on it. added a rear sway bar last weekend and did an oil change with a new cabin air filter. the old one was black and full of leaves.

she threw a P2440 code last week - "secondary air injection system switching valve stuck open (bank 1)." 4LO was flashing, CEL came on, VSC was blinking, stability control was off, the xmas tree of FVCK. it put her in to limp mode while i was driving my kid to school. A very expensive fix, or a $450 bypass kit. i ordered the bypass kit and am installing it this weekend. it's "plug & play" but i am nervous.

also got a new damper servo to hopefully fix my AC blend door issues & give me back my AC (and save myself ~$2000), a new clock spring to hopefully fix my cruise control & turn off my airbag light, spark plugs, new weather strips for the windows, new front sway bar end links and new lower control arms. got my work cut out for me for the next few weekends.

This seems odd. The coincidence bothers me.

You installed a handling bar and you get an ass load of lights?

Are you sure you did not sever the speed sensors/wires going to the rear brakes as well as issues with AIP pumps ( I know that phrase is redundant)? Speed sensors always give you those lights you listed.

Also not an alignment tech or Pro Auto Mechanic, but I've personally never had an all green print-out after an alignment. I do feel like your Caster is higher than mine normally is but maybe I'm misremembering.

I’m 50/50 on the specs. Personally I’d like more negative camber as these trucks tend to eat the outside edge of tires.

If it’s green it goes :)

Today I’m getting my upper control arms replaced. Bought a gently used pair, off a 2015 Tundra, on eBay. Around $130 for the pair. Both were in great condition with no rust. Got all the necessary hardware to go with them. Also getting my tire rods (inner and outer) replaced and an alignment done.

Nice as well. Good used ones are the best way to go. Brand new upper control arms are over $300 a piece nowadays. Not including new hardware or labor if you choose to have a shop install them.

What are you paying to get the inner and outer tie rods installed? And how many miles are you at?

It was about $736. That includes parts and labor. I’m at just over 198k miles.

That’s not bad. I’m only at 92k miles and I have one side seized up. Oxy acetylene torch didn’t even loosen it up.

Thanks. It was a good price. I got them changed out mainly for peace of mind. Especially with the salt and rust here in the northeast, age of the truck.

Funny thing is that the shop I took my Tundra to had said before that the ends were frozen like one of yours. Would need to be changed out for a proper alignment. Took my Tundra to the dealer to get my rims swapped out, they recommended an alignment, claimed they had no issue performing it. lol

Maybe you have already but in case you have not, check your lower ball joints too. If your uppers and tie rods need replacement then I'd say your lowers aren't far behind. My 08 needed lowers at around 200k. Before it needed tie rods or uppers.

Thanks for the input. To be honest, I mainly got my upper control arms and tie rod ends replaced out of an abundance of caution. Not because they were failing. And in the case of my upper control arms, I stumbled across a good deal. I owe nothing on my Tundra, so I don’t mind spending a few thousand bringing things up to current. I did find a brand new OEM lower control arm set for under $700 on eBay, from a reputable seller. Something I’ll think about.
