What type of purchase warranty does your State or dealership have on used vehicles?
Does the shop that did the pre purchase inspection have some type of written documentation of what they saw and do they guarantee their inspection?

Good luck, hopefully it works out in your favor.

    BTW, welcome from NY.

There are no pictures of the frame that I can see, all I see is pics of the outside of the truck.

Yep, we've heard it so many fucking times that we have an entire thread on it, and that thread comes up in the first page of results at Google any time I've searched for variations of "1st gen tundra problems", and yes, it gets tiresome.

We reply so much, I'm tempted to not type anything, and instead link you up to the last half dozen posts we've seen this year, and it's only mid-February

But instead, I'm gonna ask you the important details you left out:
    • What state are you in?
    • What state did you buy it in?
    • Was it private sale, or a licensed dealer?
I ask because many states have consumer protection laws and something like this - a structural problem being patched over - is a big no-no where dealers will get into significant trouble over. You can usually find out more by simply Googling consumer protection division <your-state's-name>. If there is no consumer protection division in your state (or the state you purchased the vehicle from), start by contacting the Attorney General's office for the state, and see if you can get somewhere from there.

But seriously, paying $23,000 for a 19 year old truck? What the hell? I see nice 05-06 double cabs all day long passing thru Atlanta for a fraction of that, and they've never seen a day of snow/salt. That's fucking crazy dollars!

Was this in the ad of your vehicle? It looks like all their ads say this.

    And this is from Florida

Yeah they pulled a fast one on you. Unfortunately Florida has very little consumer protection for used cars and they have the disclaimer that basically absolves them. This is a bad situation - I hope you can recoup some of your money or spend some coin to get those spots fixed. I can pretty much guarantee that if those two spots are delaminating that badly, there are other parts that are that bad too. Did you search to see if this was a truck that was part of the frame recall?

My guy I hope this isn’t real. Did you read any of their bad reviews? Quite literally all the issues you have and more.
I’ve bought 45+ vehicles already in my life a lot sight unseen. Dealership negative reviews will tell you everything you need to know, not positive ones.

if this is real, call the Florida Ag and file a complaint as this is a massive safety issue. The AG MIGHT be able to help you get this rectified even though there are no laws to help you, a dealership selling a vehicle not safe to drive can be something the state takes the next step on.

My last duty station was at Charleston AFB, and I went on to live in Greenville for awhile and loved it. I can relate however, while living there in SC, I got ripped off a couple times and it was always someone in Florida on the other end. I hope you’re able to make the best of the situation and I’m glad you have a positive attitude about things because I’m not sure I’d be as resilient. Be sure and let us know how it all turns out.

There’s a reason I don’t live there anymore, after two different stints and about half my life spent there, I finally left thanks to work, and I’ll never go back. The place is a cesspool with very very few cool people in it, the masses are self-centric d-bags. I wish we never landed at NAS JAX, that ultimately landed a part of our family there that kept us in the state for far too long. FL took far too much away from us, including my only brother.

I’m not sure why you can’t hold the pre-purchase inspection folks that you paid to do a job accountable. And $23k is ludicrous. That’s BaT or Jordan motorsports money. Come to Arkansas and you can buy one for $15k. With a solid frame.

Yup, agreed. Lived in Ft Lauderdale, twice and its only gotten worse as more have moved there. The used car market dealers are probably the worst of the worst. They're known for buying salvaged Canadian cars and selling them as clean titles, VIN swapping, roll backs etc..
