    Success!
Regarding my previous posts about my 2024 Tundra gas 1794 w/Amp Research XTreme boards not deploying. After performing a continuity test between Amp OBD white wires, blue wires and Tundra connection, I found NO continuity. This was due to the posi-taps NOT piercing the insulation of the connector's white and blue wires. For those who've reported intermittent issues or failure to deploy after installation, these posi-tap connectors onto the white/blue Tundra connector wires are the weak links in an otherwise great product. The white and blue signal wires on the Tundra connector are extremely fine wires, easily broken if you are too rough with those posi-taps. Amp Research could spend $5 in producing an adaptor harness that goes between the Tundra's white connector and socket. This would make this a truly plug & play installation, reduce installation frustration, improve long-tern reliability and reduce the many tech support calls I'm sure Real Truck/Amp Research receives. Hope this feedback helps for those considering Amp Research power step boards on a newer Tundra.

Question about the retracted position on the standard AMP steps. Had mine installed locally and they seem to be too far away from the cab. Can anyone tell me if this is correct? I see lots of pics with the steps down but not when retracted. Appreciate your help. This is my first post hopefully my pics load. Thanks...

That gap does look too big. Here is the drivers side front on mine. The gap is pretty consistent for the entire length.

Thanks for the reply/pic. I thought that was how it was supposed to look. Hopefully its an easy fix and the guy doesnt give me a hard time about questioning his work. Looks cold up there.

I installed them myself, but I don't recall there being any adjustment for that gap. But it's been a while. Yup, cold. We had another 4" of snow yesterday and the temps aren't to go above freezing even in the daytime until next Saturday and single digit lows the next few nights. Last time this happened my GF's water pipes froze, and I had a big project to repair. Pretty tough for this old Florida boy... and I am also a Gator. Looks like NW FL where I grew up is in for a snowy or icy mess. It is going to be carnage down there on the roads.

Had a 22 Tundra with fixed boards and they were difficult. Design of the door sill covered much of the board and made getting out a gymnastic event. Looked into power boards and AMP wasn't available. The others required magnets on all the doors and wiring criss crossing under the carpeting so I kept what I had. Got a 25 model with factory (AMP Research) boards and love them. Regardless of brand keep in mind you need to keep the mechanism clean and occasionally lubed and they will be trouble free.

FIXED - Called the installed and was told that's the way its supposed to be. No adjustment to make. He did offer to look at it. However when i looked closely figured out the problem. There is a stabilizer arm that attaches to the rear mount. The bolt he installed was too long and the mount would hit the bolt and stop before fully retracting. Pulled the bolts cut them down and reinstalled. Perfect nice and tight to the body like they should be.

Thank you for this post. I had mine installed a couple weeks ago and noticed the same thing. Not like other amped steps I’ve had before. Mine had the same bolt issue on both sides.

Thank you all for posting your trials and tribulations on the installation of the Amp Research Power Steps. I ran into a few issues the same issues myself and I figured I would share what I did to resolve them.
The picture of the connector that you need to tap the trigger wires sucks! Would it kill you to say the wires in the 5th bay from the left side of the connector, wire side?
Those Tee taps are problematic, and they didn’t work for me either. I’ve never seen anything like them, and I worked in the auto repair industry for 30 years. I wound up connecting my wires the way my car alarm friend connected his systems to cars harnesses. By stripping back the insulation to expose the bare wire of the car harness. Then stripping the end of the aftermarket wire harness that you’re installing, and wrapping it around the bare factory wire that you just exposed. After wrapping them around each other, tape the 2 wires up tight so no exposed wire are showing. That fixed my no operation of the steps issue.
My next issue was the through bolting hardware they provided for the support bracket to the motor mechanism. I was provided with a tamper proof T27 torx and a nut to bolt the brackets together. After doing a temporary fitting there was about the thickness of a piece of paper between the bolt head and the mechanism. That seemed to be a problem waiting to happen. I had the socket for that bolt but it wasn’t mentioned in the tools required for the install. After looking at it for a few minutes i saw the part where the through bolt went through was already tapped with threads. Come to find out they are exactly the same threads as the bolts you removed from the body before you bolted on the mechanisms to the body, except they are too long. I just chopped off the bolts I removed earlier to the correct length, and bolted the support brackets to the mechanism with those that I just modified using some Loctite so they won’t loosen up.
I hope these tips help with anyone who will be installing a set of these steps.
I’m not sure if these tips will transfer across all trims, and models, hopefully they do.
BTW I do really love the look installed, and the way they work. It makes entry and exit much more enjoyable for everyone.
    My truck is a 2025 Platinum w/TRD.

I have AMPs on my truck and I LOVE them!! Always deploy, always retract. Blew a fuse once but that was super easy to fix. Anyway, worth ever penny IMO.

Has anyone installed the Amp Xtreme version on a hybrid?
RealTruck doesn’t list as an option for Hybrid.

any of yall have the Amp Vision PowerStep?
considering these or the regular Amp PowerStep

I like the ability to change the light color (tend to like amber/yellow vs white) but it appears it also comes with the classic courtesy lights as well
the new tread is interesting and described as "non-slip" vs "slip resistant"

Hey all. I’ve been contemplating these for quite some time, but am struggling to justify the substantial cost difference between fixed steps and these. Do most that run them have a bigger lift? Or? What makes everyone love them so much vs fixed? I like them, I like that they’re mostly invisible, but I do worry about longevity.

(happy to start a new thread if I should, sorry to hi jack a bit)

I love the look of no steps, but need them for my family. I HATE the look of side steps, personally. So it's either these or nada for me. Got them on my Wrangler and Tundra. I'd have them on my 03 Tacoma if I could find some that work.

On my 25 platinum the boards look like they hang down an inch. Not tight like yours after the remedy. You wouldn't happen to have a picture of the bolt location you fixed? Thanks.

I've personally had a terrible experience with the amp power steps so far on my 25 hybrid and am about to have them removed. I had a shop install them for me, and the level on them side to side is terrible on my passenger side to the point it feels like you will slip if you step out on to the step. My wife usea this side and hates them. Your toes point at the ground. I took it back to the shop who stated there is no way to adjust them, they tried to adjust them and failed

I called amp tech support and emailed photos of the level of my steps and the difference between passenger and driver side level. The last tech support guy was a compelete ass and basically laughed in my face and told me they are supposed to be like that and there is no adjustment and if I don't like them to return them. Amp tech support sent me photos of their "master tech" who installed them himself and how unlevel his steps were side to side. They are saying it's normal.

Not sure if anyone else has run into this issue or would no how to adjust them but I can't find any errors in installation. I also can't find anyway to adjust linkage that would allow it to sit more level. I would prefer my heel face up slightly when I step in, instead of down. I had a 23 Platinum with factory steps and they were awesome so I thought the amps would be great too. My 25 platinum has the OR package so no factory power step.

I wish I would have installed them myself at this point as the shop wants me to pay them to remove them now in order to be able to return them.

I'll put a level on mine and see how they sit. You could probably adjust that by loosening the mounting bolts, wiggling them around and retightening. You might also be able to put thick washers or spacers on the top bolts to change the angle a bit.

Yea I'm gonna try and take the steps off the linkages on that side and see if the T-nuts in the channels are cocked at all.

The shop botched the install of the rear support brackets on both driver and passenger side. They rattle gunned too small of nuts with no washers into the rear support brackets so the nuts fell through the channels and ended up cocked. I thought that would help but it did absolutely nothing replacing them and adding a washer. It's turning into a mess, the shop won't admit they installed them wrong even though I sent them the pictures of the incorrectly installed rear nuts in the support brackets.

I get a different tech support agent each time and the three previous agents have all told me when deployed, and you are stepping into the truck your heel should point slightly to the sky as well as the outside edge of the step. Which is ideally how I would like them to be as that's how the factory step was angled, as well as if I look at pictures of the amp steps and especially the Go Rhino E1s they all tilt towards the sky on outside edge. It is very uncomfortable with this angle. It feels like I will roll my ankle if standing on the step with my toes pointing towards the front of the vehicle.

These are the nuts the shop ran into the rear support bracket and won't admit anything was wrong with doing that. Amp sent me the "right" nuts with built in washers however they were an 8x1.25 and the through bolt in there was a 1/4-20

They look and work well on my 24 Hybrid. I will say occasionally there is a 1-2 second delay for them to deploy which is annoying. Other than that they sit level, look good, and are very functional.

I wish mine would sit level. I took the step off the passenger side today and removed the front and rear linkages and re-installed everything, torqued to spec. My boad will sit level until I torque the board down to the rear linkage. I removed the linkages again and tried to add extra washers to shim the top rear bolt, but it did not help and only made the gap uneven front to rear when the boards close. I sent more photos to tech support today. Seems the rear driven linkage is responsible for the off angle

The shop that installed my amps ordered the extremes for my hybrid and the day before install said they would not work. I called AMP tech support who also told me the dual motor extremes are not compatible with the hybrid. It has to do with the door signals to the dual motors and causing them not to deploy all the time. I don't know why it's different on hybrid but apparently it is. They had to switch my install to the normal single motor steps. Even my single motors have a time or two taken about 10 seconds to deploy.

If you enter your truck information + hybrid engine on real truck website and select the dual motor extreme it will also warn you that the extremes won't fit hybrid
