yeah same here. stock tune was a big difference and THEN an OTT tune with 76mm was definitely more

I see why people say shorties are a waste, it basically has them stock.

@e30cabrio did you bypass the trans warming puck? Extra coolant hardline from donor engine? Shorties are basically like the stock manifolds.

I believe I removed the puck, but it's been 3 years or so, if not, I am sure I bypassed it, living on the surface of the sun I don't need any heat.

I added the full OEM transcooler, I have the hardlines but they came separately so I installed it with rubber hose planning on swapping the hardlines in but never did.

I have the thermostat pinned. they did reinstall the TB warmer which irritated me, as it wasn't running that was pretty far down my priority list :p

So up to this point you’ve lived your life a 1/4 mile at a time. But now…it’s time to slow down with a boosted tundra.

Anyone know if the MAF is my issue, although it's tuned for the Turbokits MAF if I can run on the OEM?

I have a sub 6k the TK replaced.

They scale differently, so the tune is MAF-specific. If your tune is setup for TK's MAF and you have a stock MAF installed, that could be causing your MAF-related CEL.

I have the TK installed currently & have the code/not really running issue, I ordered a new TK that they are kindly overnighting tomorrow but that's not helping until Tuesday. I am wondering if I can limp on the OEM until Tuesday.

The truck is at the shop so I'm not interested in going there installing the OEM only to find it was pointless.

I wouldn't. You could have over 20 swing in your fuel trims.

Sniv is awesome! He sent me an OEM MAF tune.

The shop is working on the truck, they are installing the Ruthenium plugs & Lexus coils, they think the RCF TB is the issue which is odd seeing as there are no more codes for the TB & it was fine before. They said the OEM plugs they installed were drowning in gas. No idea why.

Seems more like a maf issue than TB.

If they don't get it going, I'll bring the OEM MAF & flash the new tune.

Unplug the MAF, it'll run like crap, but will go into a default NON MAF mode. I wouldn't be boosting or driving a long time like that, but you can always unhook a MAF if a MAF code leaves you stranded. The Tundra ECU can pull +/- 40% LTFT and then another 20% STFT, so it won't take long for the ECU to take up the slack.

Yes, 100% you can just move the MAF voltage points from a stock MAF MAP into your current MAP and install the stock MAF. That's another way...

Looks like you were spot on. Drove the truck a little this morning and turning on Tow/Haul brought the beast out. This surprises me that a tune did not address throttle mapping in regular drive mode. When I was tuned NA, the TowHaul switch was no longer making any throttle response changes.

I need to reach out to Yotawerx to understand how they are managing the tune and maybe have some changes made. Although, it is nice to have a "switchable" mode for how I want the truck to respond.

Glad to hear it would be a simple fix for the response you expect. Yeah that’s the main reason I’ve left mine alone. If I’m feeling like more spirited driving I’ll just push the TH button. It probably gets the same terrible gas mileage regardless anyway though if you prefer the response of TH.

    @Silver17
I already heard back from Yotawerx and he did confirm they intentionally leave it so that you can use Tow Haul for "sportmode" selectable option and I think I will leave it that way. My wife will drive the truck occasionally and I would prefer she not get surprised in low traction conditions.

Pretty happy with how responsive and helpful the owner at Yotawerx has been throughout this process.

i had a pedal commander previously and left it on. they told me to take it off and they woyld adjust response to my liking

You should be able to move it with the pedal at Key-on to verify it's working before the engine starts.

I just left. Didn't want to go home to get the usb cable, if it can't command it. I just brought HP Tunes cable. What do I tell them to look for at startup?

What I meant was they can verify the throttle body is working mechanically at key-on, engine off, not sure what to look for if it's stalling. I would check for set and pending codes to see what's reporting what, then troubleshoot using the service manual.

Did you use the used engine's sensors/solenoids or from your stock engine?
Same ECU as used on stock engine?
Same TB as used on stock engine?
Same intake tube as used on stock engine?

Dumb question, but did they swap the ECU for some reason? The Ethrottle and MAF codes you get when the Immobilizer isn't synched...

It's Idling fine now it has the plugs and coils it had. Everything but the motor are the same except a slew of new while your in there parts. None that should have impacted this. Stock TB is in now instead of the RCF.
