Did you do the forum recommended modification to it? I've found that it works very well after fixing.

 

thats the next step. Radium recommended running it without the check ball for a while to see if that helped, and now we know it didnt

 

To hell with modifying it. Sell it, buy the one that works, still have money for dinner and a drink.

Got it back, feels ok, the odd idle is back & the transmission isn't dropping down when floored, I can manually get to 1,2,3 is there learning or something it needs to go through after a month without a battery?

I still don't understand what possessed them to change from a design that worked to one that doesn't and call it an upgrade.

 

Odd idle... I'm sure you are using genuine Toyota/Denso plugs, but just to make sure - are you using genuine plugs? My truck had an odd idle when I had genuine fakes from Amzn in it. Burnt an electrode completely away.

Transmission downshift... fluid level checked? Is the motor building boost like it normally does? Does it feel down on power? Floormats not bunched up under the pedal? Mouse/lizard/snake/large beetle carcasses removed from under the flour mats? Any chance you can grab a data log and see what pedal position says? I'm not in the know enough to know what's going on, but I'd be interested to see what your TPS says, MAF says, AFR says, boost says, and a few other things. I'd think it would help to know if the ECU is seeing full throttle to begin with.

 

Using the same real plugs from the old motor (I hope, good point, need to check) Sniv had the idle sorted, I had a new OEM torque converter & did a trans fluid & filter service done when the motor came out.

Max boost not going crazy was 7lbs, the AFR reading is back to fubar, oscillating between 7 & 21 on both banks, guess I need to pull the sensors and recalibrate them.

 

Picked up my truck today. 30 mile drive home and few opportunities to get on it a little bit. I'm pretty happy, but not overwhelmed... Time will tell

 

Round 2! Maybe this one will last.

 

Is AFE still the go-to dry filter option? I see my maggie kit came with a K&N and not a fan of oiled filters unless it's on my dirtbike

 

Wix is good too. I ditched that K&N right away

 

If you’re feeling underwhelmed on normal driving I’d attribute it to the stock throttle mapping on 2014+ trucks. It’s a really lazy throttle until you start getting on it more. It can be adjusted on your tune or with a banks pedal monster. If you want to feel the difference press the tow/haul button which increases throttle sensitivity and you’ll see what I mean. Mine goes from lazy to overly punchy using tow/haul.

 

They didn't use my plugs or coils, I need to get the compressor that Viktor's giant coolant reservoir displaced and I have codes.

Thinking, having 70k OEM plugs too hot for the SC is not good.

 

Looked them up, seems all have to do with throttle/pedal position/MAF etc, I'll get my Autel on it when the sun comes up & do a full scan/reset. Need to take it back & get the plugs/coils installed & get my compressor.

should I get the regular Iridium plugs? These Ruthenium have under 1k on them but they were a test, they seemed OK.

 

Your throttle body is out of sync. Check the plug/grounds and TB install. Shorted harness? I had hse codes when I installed the GM 103 TB. Crappy throttle response...

 

I had my rear gear REM'd for round 2. Make sure the pattern is right on. A tad deep and you'll get a deceleration/coast whine. I thought both patterns were great. But after dealing with 57-60mph whine on the rear. I went a few thousandths more shallow on the front an it was good to go.

 

Did you replace your prospeed open vent catch for the Amazon special one?

 

I looked at the connectors, look ok, I had them put the PVC back to stock & I will install the cheap Amazon eventually. I'd love to get it drivable again if only to avoid having it towed there.

Left out now I have no throttle & the codes won't clear.

 

It's almost like the TB plug is not plugged in.
Pins fully seated in plug?

 

Unplug it and take a look at the pins see if anything is bent.

 

I would use stock/known-good parts until you verify the engine performs as expected, then test as needed. I agree that the TB connector might not be fully connected, or could have damaged/dirty pins causing those codes...you can also try a throttle body relearn via HPTuners and see if that helps anything.

 

I just checked the connections and pins, sprayed deoxit no issues visible no change. I’ll try relearn

Relearn got the throttle back but it stalls and the code comes back
