Me too I wanted 18" rims the second I bough my truck.... I swapped to 18" TRD pro rims at 240 miles on the truck. 20" rims are terrible on a truck unless you can get at least a 35" tire on them to smooth out the ride. I keep it to stock tires sizes and 18" rims are where its at....sooo much better ride when you hit bumps and pot holes.

    It’s true. Sidewall isn’t just for off-roading.

One of the reason I dont go higher or wider than what I got. I run BFG KO2 275/70-18(33") and they are 60lbs I believe.

Do a search on the previous gen. It will give you an idea of going from OEM size to a 33" or 35". When you get into the sizes mentioned, they are usually E-rated tires. Very heavy compared to OEM. Not only not good for MPG but not easy on the suspension parts either.

    Looks sweet, no rub?

    I’m going BFD’s 18x9 +20 and thinking Cooper Discoverer AT3 XLT’s 275/70/18.

Thanks! If I’m in full articulation going faster and hitting a bump, I might. Everything is good. Here are some photos reversing on an incline.

Hi, everyone. I just bought a ‘24 SR5 Crewmax 4x4, non TRD or Pro. It came with 265/70/18’s, but I’m looking at getting a taller tire simply because I want a more accurate speedometer. I hate not having an accurate speedometer. I’m thinking of 285/70/18’s, which should get the speedometer almost dead on without any trimming or modifications, which means I’ll be getting a more accurate MPG, though it would be “lower” than what I’m supposedly getting now. Any thoughts on that.

Which one? The stock size for that truck was 265/70/18.

Apparently Toyota sets the speedometers 1-3 MPH faster than what it’s actually doing. I found that out with my ‘21 Tundra. I actually got a device to calibrate the speedometer of the ‘21 because of that very issue, especially when I realized I was going through my warranty miles much faster than I actually was doing (these are service trucks on the highway a lot).

Yea. Use a GPS app on your phone and see what it brings up. Even check those radar signs as well. I learned Toyota was not calibrating speedometers on their trucks based on the different tire sizes they came with but instead had one setting for all of them, which is why they are designed so even dealers cannot adjust them. I later read that they make them faster on purpose, something to do with selling them in other countries. How much of that is true or not, I don’t know, but I know from first hand experience the speedometers in their trucks are not accurate and shows speeds higher than they are actually going, which increases MPG and quickly exhausts warranty’s based on miles driven.

Wow!!! I had to log back into my account to address this level of stupidity all the tires that come stock are nearly all the exact same diameter (sure if you're going 200mph there's a difference there)...

GPS and speed signs are exactly the same as my Speedo so I have no F-ing idea what you are talking about.

Well, that’s fine. I just know of my personal experience with both a 2021 and a 2024, both of which came with stock tires, looking at radar signs and GPS apps, as well as my own personal interactions with Toyota. Have a good day!

So I have the advantage of having a 2021 Tundra TRD Pro Double Cab, and my brother has a 2023 Tundra TRD Off Road Limited 4x4. So we are able to compare the 2.5 and the 3rd gen trucks pretty closely. We both have 285/70/18 Nitto Ridge Grappler's on our trucks. I average around 15 city and about 17-17.5 highway (flat). He gets around 15-15.5 city and 19-20 highway (flat).

The big difference is I have a 4.30 rear end and he has that weak 3.31 rear end, so turning those heavier tires is harder on his truck than mine. In fact, he only recently put his tires on after about a year of ownership, and he says he notices the turbos run a lot more than they did before hence his MPG dropping 2 mpg. The great news about this size on both trucks no rub, look great, give the truck a nice 1 inch lift brand new due to the size increase (diameter). So far on my Ridge Grappler's I have 63,158 miles as of today, and I am hoping to make it to 4th of July tire sales. I am hoping with President Trump going back to drilling oil, the price of these tires will come down a bit by July. Hell, I paid $281 a tire in June 2021. Now those effing bastards are $422.00 a tire thanks to Bidenflation.

    Weak 3.31 rear end?

you can’t just look at the rear end numbers only like that and draw that conclusion based on rear end gearing , there is transmission ratios that need to be factored in
