Hey so I have a 2002 4wd tundra. And I want to get anywhere from a 3-4in lift in the front and around 1-2 in the back . I’ve been looking at the bilstein 5100s and I’m curious where y’all are buying these. I can’t seem to find a good place to buy them. From my understanding you buy just the strut part and you put the stock spring and top hat on. Let me know what yall would recommend and where I can buy it thanks.

Yeah, not quite that easy...Do you have a QUALITY spring compressor? Do you know how to use it safely? And really, I wouldn't bother with the old springs. They're 23 years old. Just get some new OME 2884s and call it a day. You'll thank me later. They pair nicely with 5100s on the bottom seat. Get new top hats too.

Dude, you do not want or need 4" of lift on that truck.

But yeah, read that thread. Then be realistic with yourself on how much lift. I have a little over 2½" lift in front with oversized tires and my truck sits like 4" higher than before. My kids hate getting into it now, and it does virtually nothing practical that couldn't have already been achieved with half as much left and tire.

If you want a reliable 4" lift up front, you kinda got two options-
-Spend at least $4000 on a long travel 4wd kit, or convert your truck over to 2wd and install a 2wd lift.

I found a place that put the spring on and all I had to do was just mount them on the car

Okay so I read up on the like overall page I guess and realized that 35s was gonna be harder then I thought so I’d like to do 33s and a level. Which from my understanding this setup would work for that. I’d also like to get the matching 5100 shocks in the back. Do you know where I should buy this setup where it’s not going to take months to get here also thanks for the help. I should also add I want zero rake I would like it level or slightly leaning back.

Squat is illegal in several states now.

    Are

I would challenge you on 33s. You're going to rub and when you rub, if your AC is anything like my AC, when you rub thru the pinch welds, unless you pull your inner liners and hammer them, they're going to eat up your tires. You can get a virtually identical look running one size smaller (275/70r17 instead of 285/70r17) and nobody will be able to visually see the difference, but you will rub 75-99% less.

I can post pics of my truck with each tire choice if you don't believe me.

Don't get sucked into the 33" hype, 32.5" provides all the same benefits without the added engine/mpg tax that comes with that added rolling mass, less rubbing, and with less noise. Unless you're doing this to show off, of course, then stick with your original idea of going with 35s, you'll make lots of noise and everyone will pay attenttion to the special boy making noise in his meat-tire truck.

OK guys, he did say "slightly leaning back". Not Squatted.
I was thinking more like this kind of stance he was OK with if not completely level.

He's not a pre-runner. And, he's not installing LT. 5100s are a long way from LT.
But if I had an extra $10-20K burning a hole in my pocket, I'd probably do this too. Can't be all show, no go.

Careful with that advice. That kit is designed for Sequoia/DC and caused serious problems with another member who had an AC like OP @Jon42

More info on that debacle: https://www.tundras.com/threads/ome-3-1-kit-goes-full-extension-with-a-bang-too-fast-why.109151/

OME kits work fine for 1st gen double cabs and Sequoias. It appears they cause problems with the access/regular cab 1st gens.

(double cab) So far, so good. He's had it out a couple of times without any issues.. so far.

He does have Moog lower ball joints, so he's on borrowed time.

The squatting is pretty terrible. The camper shells are the most useful addition I’ve made to my trucks. I’ll be a paw paw if that’s what having the cap means. It’s not a trend, it’s like running boards, or a winch. It serves a real purpose.
