When I looked at the pictures of the RCS lift compared to the Tuff Country lift, it appeared to me the weld-in portion was nearly identical between the kits. If true, would it not be likely there would be high parts interchange between the two? If so, just buy replacement knuckles from Tuff Country and you’ll be set, I think?

Just be sure to avoid the knuckles with the spacer (I think it’s the 4.5” kit)

Nix that, took a sec to side-by-side the two and they're definitely quite different.

I would recommend you call RCD and ask them - NOW, don't waste time - if they have any parts remaining, and what they'd recommend. I'd probably aim to get the knuckles, since that would be the one thing you'd be hard pressed to find later.

I always hated these kits used gigantic lift blocks in the back, it's horrible from an axle wrap/pinion perspective, but (I think?) both of these kits are irreversible, so ... you get what you get if a previous owner installed it, and can only do what little you can to reverse it. I'd probably drop the kit down to 4" lift and go to Archive or similar for custom leaf packs to lift the rear, if it were me. Especially if I'd be using the truck as a workhorse to potentially haul around stuff, which is where you'd suffer with axle wrap the most. Not getting the rear off those blocks would be a quick path to absolutely nuking your driveline.

Tuff Country kit first, RCD is second.

I thought the rear shocks with the RCD make it so you don’t need spacers.? Other than that why would you say the other is superior.? The RCD seem a lot more solid with the dif drop frame

Rear shocks don’t provide lift, leaf packs and/or lift blocks do. The kit (for both brands) clearly use a 3”-4” lift block which should be installed at the axle, where the leaf pack bolts to the axle housing.

so curious why they would discontinue the 03-06 kit but they still make the 00-03...?

You’d need to talk to the manufacturer to know that. There were some differences in the knuckle for earlier-year trucks, biggest one specifically is the LBJ bolt hole size difference, older years used a smaller bolt shank

Still going strong and haven't had a single issue with the lift. That being said, I don't drive a whole lot and when I do, I drive like a grandpa. I do take it off road, but I don't do what I would consider real wheeling. Have a look at my trip reports to get an idea of what I get into. From my limited knowledge, except for the rear blocks, the RCD lift is the only lift to address all the problems you can run into when lifting these trucks. It includes a front diff drop, a carrier bearing drop, LSPV extension bracket and properly beefy spindles. As has been discussed, I really wish the rear came with lifted springs, not blocks. What's interesting is I don't see anyone making lift springs for our rigs beyond an inch or two. Looks like you have to get custom springs built if you want to lift more than that without blocks. Anyways, the lift has been great.

Don't count on it. The lift is being discontinued, there's no way someone decides to start making springs now.

@Brown Bear had a set made for his rig; I'll defer to him. Though, I think it was a while ago and I'm sure prices wouldn't be the same.

I think Deaver might make a leaf pack that lifts the rear. If I remember correctly the part number is H70 and H70HD although you have to get custom shackles and hangers.

    suspension geometry is a bitch.

you CV axels will detonate past 3" of suspension lift AND you try to take it "wheeling". You maybe able to pull off street driving. Not entirely sure.

Drop your diff 1/2 an inch and you believe it will make up the difference in angle from 3"

    ??????

    SUSPENSION GEOMETRY IS A BITCHHHHH

I hear ya.. but I believe the RCD lift kit corrects this with the diff drop and the new larger spindles..

Believe the dude you're responding to is talking about lift springs for the rear of the truck and has had an RCD kit for awhile, but go off.

Correct, if you have shocks that are made for the RCD kit, don't over-adjust the the preload on them to give a crazy ride height and you'll be okay. Also if you're keeping stock shocks, as long as you use only the shock spacers meant for the RCD and nothing bigger on top of them, you'll be okay.
