Howdy yet again. Please forgive me. I'm very unfamiliar with these things. So posting is, well, kinda different. So if I got it in the wrong place, please bear with me.
Here's the deal... About 3 weeks ago, we bought a used (obviously) 2001 Tundra Acc Cab 4X4 V8. The only modification was the ghastly bumper that was mounted on them front. Yes, there are a lot of deer, elk, animal hits in this area. But this is overkill. The thing's a beast! Anyway, Jer has changed both CV axles and the front actuator. The problem is, well, I'll list them.
    1) It won't start
    2) When it did start before, the front wheels would not turn in 4WD
    3) Now the 2H/4H light flashes when they button is pushed to take it out of 4L.
Honestly, I don't even know where to start with the questions. We've always had the 1gen SR5 or Tacoma's. So this is now to us. And we, well, I, would love some help before we conclude this was a bad purchase.
And be kind... I won't be able to answer questions without Jerry here to guide me through. Lol.

    Welcome!

Check out this guide for your 4WD issues: https://www.tundras.com/threads/1st-gen-4wd-issues-diagnosis-prevention-guide.149189/ If you can’t figure it out after reading through the whole thing, give me a shout.

You mentioned it won’t start- tell us about it. Does it make a clicking sound when turning the key? Does the engine spin over but not start? We love specifics here. The more details (and photos) the better.

When you turn the key on to start, does the dash light up? Heat any clicking sounds? Or nothing? Have you checked the battery terminals? They are snug and clean? Checked battery voltage?

Have you double checked everything y’all did when replacing the cv axles and actuator? Are you sure you didn’t leave anything unplugged?

Yes'm. All of that. Lights are on, lovely beeping irritation when they door is open, actuators, both, sound and feel like they're working fine.
But here's a question... If he hasn't filled the differential with fluid/grease, is there a sensor of some sort that would prevent it from starting? (All rigs have gotten so sensor happy, one never knows).

He's rechecking for the 4th or 5th time now. It just seems crazy. Everything seemed so simple to fix when we bought it. Now, it's almost a flashback of why he started hating rigs on them first place. Nothing is simple anymore. I just want my carberated simplicity with no computer crap. Lol. I'm a simple kinda gal.

I don’t miss having to jam a screwdriver into the throttle plate to open it up when I flooded the carburetor on my parent’s car.

I do miss the ability to turn down the idle screw to get it to pass emissions.

Oh how true that is! I know we were going on our own experience with the standard SR5's and Tacoma's. No idea how different the Tundra would be. But being a Toyota guy, Jerry wasn't about to give up. And now that it's running better, aside from the simple carrier bearing, I think he's falling in love. Lol.
