My wife’s fob battery ran out - now she hardly ever drives the truck and it’s unclear how long it was dead. I changed the battery out. It doesn’t work. Took the battery out, checked it, charge is good, also checked the old and it was dead. Put it back together, nothing.

Any ideas? I was thinking maybe it needed reprogrammed?

OEM tonneau cover, door edge guards, all-weather mats and spray on bed liner.
Try holding it up to the start button when you start it up, maybe it will reprogram it

Is it a Duracell battery with the sour coating? I've had a couple of devices they won't work in until I rinse off the coating.

That’s what I was going to suggest too. I use rubbing alcohol. I’ve noticed my BMW X6 fob is really sensitive to that coating

I hope you figure this out. Keep us posted.

FYI, if the truck is rarely driven, you can turn the FOB off to conserve battery. I've forgotten what the button push sequence is, but that should be a easy search.

    Nitrogen filled tires!
my oem battery went dead just a few weeks ago - 18 months after initial use. Replaced it with a Duracell and it works fine. Maybe you put it in wrong side up? Or the plastic shield cover on the battery contact side did not get removed before you installed it.

Ok I took the fob in question to the truck, with my working fob in the house. I pressed the start button, it asked to put the fob near the button, I did,it started. However, I tried again from scratch, on a second start I had to repeat the sequence. I also noticed her Fob was not emitting that little red light. So I know it works, and I suspect it ran out of batteries a long time ago and the internal memory is erased. I am going to read the manual about programming/pairing it up and we will see how that goes. Thank you @SR72 for the suggestion.
