Just don't use scotchloks as pictured, they're bastard shits of the devil, pure hackery. Do it the rightway, use a Posi-tap instead, or solder + heat shrink. Scotchloks are notorious for mangling wires, allowing oxygen to corrode copper, breaking strands of copper weakening the signals across wires, and generally causing irreparable damage, unless you ultimately cut and re-solder to restore the wire's integrity. I can't tell you how many issues I've traced back to those pieces of shit.

Just look at the thickness of that split in the connector, and think about the awg of the wire. Do the math on what's going to happen when you shove a stranded wire into a slot half the thickness. Bad shit.

I love how every time those pop up we can see your blood boil. The passion is real and the desire to save others the headache is admirable. Though I half think about recommending them at times just to see the reaction. :drevil:

Just did the modification and it worked. I had to pull the dash apart...pull out the radio to unhook the connector. Soldered a wire onto the pink...silver wire and grounded it on the frame ground right behind the glovebox.....thanks for the help...

Quick question about this mod. Seems straight forward, but do you "need" to plug the TPMS module back in or can you remove it completely. This is assuming you have already grounded the pink wire.
    Thanks!

This entire thread is specifically pertaining to the 1st gen, and it was posted here in the 1st gen subforum, though Search may not have informed you which subforum you were in. Always important to check that when clicking thru.

I highly recommend you check in over at the 2nd (2.5) gen forums HERE to ask if it works the same with the later years. I wouldn't expect the 2017 to act like the 2000-2006 years.
