Largest tire you can run stock for all generations

Update: I've been running the new Toyo tires on the wheels for over a month. There is only rub on factory skid plate up
front while on full lock. It makes a funny card in bike spokes noise but I don't care. I will trim the skid plate with a cutoff
wheel shortly.

What I can say unequivocally is going from Cooper factory tire to the HEAVY Toyo RT Trail tires is my fuel economy took
a very serious hit!! The unsprung mass of these heavy tires is very present as the automatic transmission tries to
compensate. I'm certain if I had a 6 speed manual it would be different.
I am making a 500 mile trip this weekend but on clean highway, no mountain passes in 2HI all the time to get a
new baseline for these tires. I did the trip last year with the stockers on the truck so this will be a direct comparison test.

 

Well I guess I’m gonna be that guy. I went to “will it fit” and can anyone explain the numbers and what it all means please? Im good at math, he’ll, I LIKE math, but wheel math hurts my brain. I have a 19 trd pro, currently on the stock 18” wheels so I’m assuming +60 offset based off what I’ve read? I’d like to try and put 295/70/18 Wildpeak AT4/W’s on the stock wheel. Most other forums I’ve read mention people remove mudflaps etc but I just don’t understand what the websites telling me. I’ve tried watching videos on offset and backspacing etc and nada.

Can someone explain to me like I’m a five year old please?

 

Since you are not changing wheels in this example, this website is not telling you that much. Offset and backspacing are a little more complicated, but until you start looking at different wheels, it does not really matter yet. The most important metric on this page is the 'Arch gap loss', if you have a minute to just sit back and look at your wheels I would encourage you to turn the steering wheel back and forth in small increments and identify when the tire is the closest to various components, then with the tire in that position, imagine that it is about 1" bigger radius and about 1/4" wider as well. It is very possible that you can slap the bigger tires on your truck and you won't have to do anything, every truck is just slightly different.

So what brand and size did you end up going with?

 

I haven’t actually swapped em out yet. The plan was to do so, but figured I’d run the life out of the GeoDrives I’ve currently got as now that the snowy season is over, road conditions aren’t too bad.

 

Does anyone know if this would work on a 21 SR5 no lift/level with trd off road wheels? Oem skid plate?

 

It should. You might have to bend the stock skid plate a little.

 

Thanks for the reply. I was looking at the tires in your pics from this thread and I found them in both SL and E, how do you like the E rated set ?

 

They were fine. I'm no longer on this setup. I went bigger. But E rated is all I ever buy. I'm not worried about weight, gas mileage, rough riding, loud, or anything else that some people are concerned with. I just want aggressive tires that can take lots of abuse.

 

2020 trd off road package. Everything i look up shows +60 offset. Anywhere to look up or anyway measure my wheels specifically to verify?

If they are stock rims they are +60 offset

As for measuring, it's measured from the center of the rim. So you could measure rim width, then measure from the back of the rim to the mating surface, then subtract half the rim width from the distance from the back of the rim to the mating surface and get the offset. But if it's stock TRD Off-Road rims, it'll be +60 offset.

If I'm not mistaken it may also be stamped on the inside, behind the face of the rim.

It can be done for sure per the video. But you are going to find that he has the perfect wheel and tire combo for it.
