It 2025. Ship has long ago sailed on Gen 3 vs Gen 2 or V8 vs V6 merits and debits. Dead horse.

Let's just focus on actual engine swap schedules, experiences, results, problems and Toyo follow up. That is the only relavant topic now

IMO this thread and the ford thread need to be deleted.

    Just a passing thought.
You know, engines today are what they are and that's just the way it is and will be. But thinking back to the old V-8's I only now am appreciating just how sexy they were. For a car guy they were a thing of beauty.

And the world would continue to spin.
And most of us here wouldn't care.
And equally pointless threads would eventually take their place.
So... kind of a pointless exercise?

    How about this idea:
Similar to the Oil Analysis reports thread that is moderated and edited to keep it on track, why can't we have a similar thread for ACTUAL, FACTUAL, VERIFIED, recall information all in one place? Or does that already exist and I'm just too entertained by this one?

Hell, keep this one open for all the speculation, finger pointing and venting to everyone's hearts content.

No way! Those have provided hours upon hours of genuinely good entertainment. :p

At this point it seems Ryan stopped updating his sheet or failures are down. @AZBoatHauler or @trazerr - what’s fb look like these days?

The only solution is @WNY PAT to replace one of his trucks with a ‘25. I’m not even kidding, if you have the means, give it a go and provide feedback.

I still think Toyota should announce a 5/60 warranty on the engines. Not because they have to but almost a sales job to say they really believe in the engine. It would still only apply to the 100k recalled so the risk would be minor for the public confidence/ sales job.

Good idea, the bullshit is so commingled there's no value or the value is hard to get at. Move the ford to general discussion.

1/12 on the new motor is fair and fine with me. 5/60 doesn't create or extend goodwill IMO.

this is the way truck forums always were and will be, just have threads that are random bs, etc.

I've been on them from the start with my 2000 tundra I got in late 1999 and one of the first members at tundrasolutions.com (still there). then tons of people went to tundratalk, then that crapped out (although Im still over there sometimes), and then here. I was also one of the only members with a tundra back in the pickuptruck.com war room days, talk about shit talking, lol, this is rookie compared to that.

this site is great, especially since the mods cleaned out the dickheads during the recall announcement.

I don't think anyone has been out of line here recently in this one, repetitive yes, but not being dicks from what I see.

I would suggest if someone wants a dedicated thread super clean and locked with only recall updates, VIN verified, etc, PM the mods and ask them if you start it, are they willing to keep it that clean, e.g. oil analysis thread.

    boost on :burnrubber:

speaking of, just went for a ride, wife sent me to target for dt. coke for later, boosted like a MOFO in sport mode trying to burn up all my 93+ octane to help the techs when I go in for my final gas line recall bs shortly here, my parts are in.

This truck is fun, it flies and handles great, very planted with the coils and AVS sport+

Ooor you can just not go into them? Seems way better than punishing a bunch of other people just because you don't like something they think or say.

Then again, if you, @Woodrow bangs and like-minded types keep going around telling everyone that isn't endlessly pro 3rd gen to "stfu" you'll eventually cross the line into getting yourselves banned. After that everyone else will continue their conversations, speculations, jokes, and fun without a care for the absences.

I've been on a Ford truck enthusiast forum for years & it was WAY worse. Members and mods!! This is a big relief compared to that. You will always have keyboard warriors that just like to stir the pot. Just ignore & move along, they aren't worth the trouble to fool with.

To be honest I like the look of the F150 Raptor. I was entertaining buying one instead a 3rd gen. But then I found the 100 miles 2021 "unicorn" slapped a supercharger on top if and quickly changed my mind :)

On a serious note. I have found this thread both informative and entertaining. To add constructive information, people were talking back and forth earlier on warranty extensions. I'm siding with the crowd once the engine replacement work is done, that VIN gets an extended warranty on the full drivetrain, transferrable. This would likely provide peace of mind for a lot of 3rd Gen owners for long-term ownership, improve resale value, and helps restore trust in Toyota that they actually fixed the problem(s).

    Yes!

Clear out some room for “will it fit?” “How do I get more mpgs” “what’s the best AT tire for my needs (lists zero needs)?” threads.

I think the F150? according to the specs ? But I really don't care. I have the best of both worlds. A classic Tundra 2.5 gen look and a reliable V8 5.7 engine with a sensitive touch of proven Magnuson supercharger. And the price point, I paid 38K for this brand new truck and add $11K on the supercharger job, which is still cheaper than the F150 $80K+

Wait a minute. A Toyota tech did a good job? According to a lot of folks on this forum, that's an impossibility. :)

An impossibility that is still possible and rare :) I did a lot of homework to find this place and this tech. The only thing I haven't done was a background check but I did everything else. This tech is the only one touching my truck until I die or he dies :)

i started another thread, but i am curious what ppl are getting on their carfax after engine replacement, i am shopping for used phev and a escape was 20-25% under market value because it had a engine long block replaced - not by a full recall but a customer service request - noted on the carfax

i may trade in my truck earlier now if this truly blemmishes the carfax and everyone else will just lowball the shit outta me
