My AC quit a few weeks ago and I live in Tucson. I have owned this 2013 Platinum CrewMax since new and this is the first problem I have had with the truck. It spent its whole life in Fairbanks, Alaska until moving to Tucson several months ago. So the AC unit has very little time on it. Unfortunately, the dealer said that the compressor internal components came apart and sent metal pieces throughout the system. The dealer's estimate to repair is $7000. Need to fix because it is hitting close to 100F in Tucson now. Wondering if anyone else has experienced this. Thanks.

You may want to try replacing the compressor clutch relay first if it just doesn’t turn on.

Assuming it is a bad compressor, did they do an acid test to see if the compressor did in fact cause a problem that will require more than a new compressor?

Get a second opinion before doing anything. $7K sounds way too expensive.

For $7K I'd get a used car with working A/C. That seems really high. Like Danny said, get a second opinion, even a third.

Thanks for the advice. Will take it to an AC specialist next week.

SpairAir, I'm a little late to your reply but we are current having the same issue with the broken a/c and metal fragments in our 2012 Crewmax Platinum. Curious if you were able to get it fixed?
