I found a pretty mint tundra with 150k miles, it has a camper shell and it has all of the records, new frame, and the timing belt and water pump have been done recently, buyer wants almost 15k, is that reasonable ? I need to get a truck fairly quick in my current situation so I’m willing to pay depending on what you all think, it is also 4 wheel drive

Would need to see the trucks condition(especially considering it needed frame replacement), but if as minty as you describe, $15k is high, but they'll probably get it. I can get $10k for mine equipped similarly, albeit with an original minty frame and no rust belt issues. Also has 275k miles on it and some authentic deer battle damage on the drivers side doors. Otherwise well maintained in great mechanical order.

Guess it isn’t mint mint but it looks fantastic imo and it’s 90% nicer than anything else in the area or within a couple hours

My advice, find a good clean southern truck and spend $500 on a plane ticket and gas money back.

I'm in MD...I think $15K is very high. Seems like a dealer price

I second this. If it's got a new frame then the rest is probably crusty and a PITA to work on. Broken bolts everywhere.

I can get pics, but you have an 05 dc I see… I’d definitely pay that for the right mileage, what did it have when you payed that?

Yeah I’d rather pay 15 k for that… I crashed my truck and am about out of having a rental so that’s why I’m considering this

It was a one owner truck but no maintenance history. I put another 2k into it immediately with the TB/WP job and everything associated with it.

I wouldn't worry too much about mileage as long as it's maintained. I have 333k and still take it on road trips and offroad it.

Totally unreasonable, if the truck was bad enough the frame had to be replaced, you're going to be absolutely fighting like hell with every nut, bolt, and fastener you can imagine for the lifetime you have the truck.

Not only that, but you'll also be dealing with all the extra crap that goes along with the wiring and peripherals being exposed to road corrosives, potential electrical problems, cab rot, wheel well rot, rocker rot, bed floor rot, the list goes on and on.

Look my dude, you could literally buy a one-way plane ticket to any state in the SW USA or SE USA, and book a hotel for 2 weeks to casually hunt for the exact same truck in rust-free, salt-virgin format and pay $12,000 (or maybe less), then drive it home. You'll probably save $1k+

I know the temptation is probably high, but that's some bullshit dealer-ass-pricing you're talking about, for what's likely a repeat headache.

@shifty` the OP had the truck that had the frame replaced and timing belt (supposedly) done. The other guy (@Elevatorguy ) bought the truck for $15K and had to throw $2K into it immediately.

North Carolina still has a highly likelihood of being rusty. Thats still considered north to us.
When he said go south he means Florida, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, the lower half of Texas.

The whole northern half of Georgia uses salt, so you gotta watch where you are looking at. What exactly are you looking for and we can send you pix of listings that are well within reason in areas that are well within a plane ticket to go get it.

I have personally bought and paid for two vehicles and had them delivered to me. The hot-shot delivery was half the price of a plane ticket and gas.

Here, plane ticket to Houston, get out of the airport and walk across the street and drive this home. A look under the hood and there is no rust, no oxidation of the aluminum pieces, everything is clean, seats look mint, inside the bed is clean and liner'd. $9500 and you have money to spare.
    https://houston.craigslist.org/ctd/d/houston-2005-toyota-tundra-sr5/7806554237.html

Here is another, St Petersburg FL, hope off the plane walk one block west and drive this home. Its questionable, whole drivers side has been repainted and the front fender isnt original or has had work done to it. Would need extra pix of the questionable areas including under the hood and door jambs and frame ect. $6950

    BINGO
Orlando, three blocks away from the airport, dont even need to rent an uber. Extended cab MINT frame CLEAN under the hood, v6 that is a 350,000 mile motor every day of the week. Interior looks great, truck has a LOT of life left in it with 216,000 miles. ON SALE TODAY $6900

I've been begrudgingly living in the "northern half" (northern 1/3 to 1/4) of Georgia for the last 20 years. I've seen salt on the roads a grand total of maybe half dozen times when they actually bothered. Half the time they don't even have operational trucks, but when they do, they're spreading fine sand over the majority of the roads and only put salt products on more-notorious bridges. My truck is a good example. Lived in Birmingham most of its life, which is a mountain area. Zero road salt. Clean as hell frame. It's spent the last 5-6 years in Atlanta for 15k-20k miles, still clean as can be. tl;dr - road salt is rarely used, and if it is, it's not normally broadcast.

Florida trucks -> I'd avoid, after the hurricanes and recent flooding, there are a large number of trucks popping up on the market with flood/water damage. Someone either on here or one of the FB groups had one and was asking for advice last month.

Yeah they use salt in bad times only i bet. The north eastern half of Georgia has salt in salt barns. I cant guarantee how much its used but the fact they have salt piled up in salt barns means its there when they need it. The farther west you go towards atlanta most of the salt barns are full of sand.

My man lives in Maryland and I’m guessing he needs some 4wd action for snow days and you post three 2wd trucks.

4wd, nice lookin 2008 limited in south texas
    https://austin.craigslist.org/cto/d/wimberley-toyota-tundra-57-trd-limited/7807345405.html

newer model but not a bad truck for the price
    https://victoriatx.craigslist.org/ctd/d/nursery-2007-toyota-tundra-limited-4x4/7804510392.html

Typical thin leather cracking, front seat covers and rock and roll. Texas edition wheels on a double cab at a real cheap price.
    https://houston.craigslist.org/cto/d/katy-2007-toyota-tundra/7802608267.html

Need more info and pix, this is 4wd with topper
    https://phoenix.craigslist.org/nph/for/d/flagstaff-2005-toyota-tundra/7799274158.html

Mesa Az, need more pix but its 4wd
    https://phoenix.craigslist.org/cph/cto/d/mesa-2006-tundra/7803264186.html

The further west you go, the higher the prices get. I would bet 80% of the listings i saw were 2wd and i saw hundreds and i can say this:
A south texas 2wd extended cab that lists for $6800 with 200,000 miles is going to be $9500 in Arizona and $11,500 in southern california.
This pretty much priced out all the 4wd nice looking trucks, any of the 4wd were listed at crazy high prices out west and in the deep south west. Saw a few bedliner'd 4wd but thats usually lipstick to cover up problems and bad body work. These are some of the "nicer" units i saw that were 4wd.
There are even more listings on Fakebook market place, tons and tons and tons of listings. You can find whatever it is you want if you open your search horizon and are willing to go get it or call up a broker and have them call in a load and have it shipped direct to you.
