One of the things that makes me really miss my 1st gen Honda Insight was it's stability at speed. Despite being such a lightweight car, you could take your hands off the wheel at 110 and it would track dead straight. Just took about half an hour of full throttle to get going that fast. I'd take at least 45 minutes off of google maps's ETA when I'd rive to Iowa to visit the GF.

The cable retainer on my drum is broken. Just today I've had to pull off the road 8 times, and reinsert my throttle cable in the drum. It's not that big of a deal, but it almost cost me 16 hrs of holiday pay (if I were late today.)

@Brynden29 got me one once upon a time, but he wouldn't accept it. Never figured out why he rejected the donor organ. Now it's an issue for me.

 

Looks like some superglue or JB weld plastic bond and a small piece of plastic would fix that. Probably a lot cheaper than buying/shipping a whole Pedal Position Sensor.

 

I might know of a local truck that has one still? I think the truck is a 2000 SR5 access cab.

 

Probably so, but the time invested in the R/D of the repair is the same amount of time I would spend putting in a new (to me) TPS especially if @shifty` could snag one $25 or less shipped from a yard

Yeah. Don't throw away your old one though. Couple people on here (including me) are having weird issues, and I'm suspect of that sensor.

 

Yeah, I'd been seeing posts about odd issues once in a while. That wouldn't surprise me if that sensor was the culprit. Looks like Rockauto has several to choose from and the denso number doesn't yield any good hits from google-fu

Toyota part number is 22060-50011. $200 from Amayama is the cheapest I can find for an OEM. Aftermarkets are as cheap as $90.

 

I’ve done 95ish passing one a two lane highway. Felt pretty smooth.

 

Yeah, I forget how much nicer FGTs drive compared to other trucks of the era. My buddy's 02 F150 drives like shit compared to my truck.

 

That would be great. Hopefully will be cheaper than fleabay. That part should be the same for all years, I mainly need the plastic gears for the vent selector off it since mine was binding and I busted it. Getting tired of having to pull over and switching the doors by the gas pedal when I need to defrost the windshield...

All the wrecking yards nearest to me are an hour away and down by the Mexican border, they seem to say anything over the phone just to get you in the door, so I don't bother anymore.

 

This has been my experience too, I hate it.

For $64 more dollars you can get a whole fucking bolt in, drop in, UNIT?!?!?!?!? What the fuck kind of crack is toyota smoking?

 

Same, it's a pain in the ass. Except mine is on the door for the hot/cold. I did this, but the (blendoor?) is just too hard to operate with the knob.
It's the same salvage yard etiquette here in MI too.... F the customer driving xxxmiles to get a part. Complete A-holes, like little ole you are bothering them with a $50 part enquiry.

 

My lil bro, and I drove 3 hours one way because a yard said they had a part there on a 2002 tundra, and they didn't have a single toyota truck of any kind in the yard, I was so god damned heated, ooooh those motherfuckers

I pegged the speedo in the gfs SHO at 140 on the way to Dallas last year. 100 in the tundra. 142 on the aprilia.

Next OCI/Tire rotation I'd like to swap lugs.

 

Look up the engine harness sometime. Even the wire harness from the battery to alternator was something like $1,200 when I last looked.

 

Oh my brother, yeah, that's unlikely. It's a miracle to see an engine still in the truck, even if you arrive on the yard 10mins after you get the email alert, if it's a V8. V6 is a 50/50 affair.

Your best bet is probably looking for someone parting it out, or posting a WTB in the Marketplace. Surely a few members on here have parts trucks they could raid?

 

I mean, I chekced RA, and the only part that matches that number is this from SMP (and I trust SMP stuff) and it's 20-25% more than Toyota!

There are some options on the throttle position sensor, but again, SMP is the only brand I'd trust, and it's exorbitant. I'd say buy the cheapest one and cannibalize parts off it, but ... even then, that's a stout price tag.

I ride a 2015 BMW RNineT. Great for the two lane rural highways. I stay out of the city as there are too many inattentive drivers. If you get a bike, enjoy!

 

Similar happened to me but thankfully I was only half an hour away. Got to the yard and searched for a good while for the one damned truck they said was there. Went back to the counter and another rep stated that the entire row was picked up and compacted the day before. I was not a happy camper.

 

Go check your junkyards before you need something. I wandered around 4 JY's and didnt need nothing.

Noah - how about pulling a throttle body off a Tundra in your local wrecking yard?

 

WTF. We Southerners aren’t built for these arctic temps. Some sort of arctic blast coming over from Canadia. Too cold to work on the truck.

 

So does both you guys need the opposite bevel gears? Obviously @BroHon white gear is broken (but patched). Which color gears do you need @des2mtn?
