I have 5100s up front and want to do a about 1.5" of lift. 2005 double cab v8 4x4.

    I think my options are:

    1. Stock springs on 4th clip position.
    2. Ome 2884 springs on bottom clip position.
    3. Any other spring choices?

Not sure if there is any real world benefit of the ome springs over the stock with the 5100s. Anybody with first hand experience with the double cab 4x4?

I just went from 2883's on bottom perch of 5100's
Got almost a full inch of lift. No less than 3/4"

Tried 2nd perch because I needed another 3/4" or so lift. Was way to stiff and "walked" over rough patches of pavement

went with Dobinson's on bottom perch. Very pleased

Copious amounts of info on lift amounts can be found in the “Suspension, wheel & tire” section of this thread: https://www.tundras.com/threads/so-you-wanna-buy-just-bought-a-1st-gen-tundra-eh.115928/

It may help you decide and at least will leave you very well informed on your choice, before considering what any individual here suggests. If it were me and I was running on factory springs with more than 100k-200k miles I’d probably use a lifted spring, and run 2884s, or if @Weagle has a specific part number and measure for Dobbies, consider theirs.

Thanks for that! I did some searching and came across the Dobinsons C59-302 spring, which lifts 1.75 inches using the bottom ring on 5100s according to 1stgenoffroad. It is taller than the ome 2884 while also being a few pounds softer.

This might be the spring for me. Might be as much lift as I can get with my current relatively new 5100 shocks while staying with stock ucas.

i did not have any problems with alignment and stock uca's

do yourself a favor and use @assassin10000 's alignment specs.
Those specs have been widely accepted by toyota enthusiasts for years as being the best for our lifted tundra's and at least the castor is greatly out of the factory recommendations

and when alignment is done I would request a printout from their system showing the final numbers. I've had to go back 2 or 3 times until they got it right. Just my experience

how much lift did you end up getting out of the dominions springs? I wrote those off because I thought I read that they give more lift than advertised. The 2883’s I bought off you are probably going on wife’s 4runner and I’m looking at 6112’s again.

I have new OEM lbjs installed by myself following all the correct instructions. I don't recall this thread being about ball joints.

Just feeling you out. If you can do lbj's, you're more than capable to handle spring/shocks.

I will try to remember to check when I get home.

I wish I would've done a better job of documenting the height at various stages of my changes. I know I posted a lot of it in this forum if I could ever find it.

if I had to guess I would say in the range of 1-1/2 to somewhere under 2 inches

Well, the lbjs did take me all damn day! . Must have tried three separator tools (one being a bfh) before I got the old ones free. I've done springs before, so hopefully it will be less of a shit show.

    Thanks.

I wish I knew where I started, but it sounds like 21-1/2 is about right because Festerw from that thread also has a double cab, 5100's on the lowest perch like me, and he is also at 21 1/2 but with the 2885's

Are assassin10000's alignment specs the ones from the "so you just bought..." everything thread?

Yes sorry I could've just referred you to that post.

I misread it when he gave them to me and thought it was only a 2.0 on the caster. Mine is OK but I can see where the 2.8 would be even better and will probably do that in the future

Just fyi with my castor at 2.0 combined with my 32" tires/wheels and 305's i'm about to have to trim the lower front edge of the fender, which is pretty much not visible anyway. That much caster pushes the tires and wheels toward the front of the truck. If I would had this alignment to start with, I probably could've avoided modifying the pinch weld and just done the easy fender trim/grinding and been able to leave the mud flaps on. I'm gonna try to put those back on now because there shouldn't be interference

When my 265/70/r17 tires wear out I'm thinking of trying some 255/80/r17 33" pizza cutters. I've heard they will fit, and maybe that additional caster will help. I think my local shop defaults to about 1.8 of caster.

    I did OME 2884s over 5100s. It’s level. I like it.

I lifted my Tacoma using springs after using the spring perch at first and finding it too harsh. The spring lift was considerably better.
