This is impossible

Okay being that I have the whole inside pulled out. Dash, HVAC assemblies, support bar, and firewall insulation pad and carpet, seats. I saw that my heater core had some questionable marks on it. So I bought a new Denso heater core. Thinking it’s just gasket, plastic gasket, then put the inlet and outlet tubes in the heater core then clamp them down. Simple right NO! I can not get the clamps to clamp together. It’s either off a lot or just a little. It’s impossible for me to keep enough even pressure to have my son clamp them together. I NEED HELP! THE DASH IS A PAIN IN THE BUTT TO REMOVE TO KEEP FIXING THIS PROBLEM. I want to be able to fix it and forget it.

 

Per the FSM, the clamps have to be installed in a certain orientation.

 

Okay that will help on the engine side, but I need help on how to install the inlet and outlet pipes to the heater core on the inside. Thank you for the help the illustrations help when I reconnect the pipes on the engine side

 

Ohp, I getcha. It looks like the clips on the inside are meant to have a screw on them, and they don't just clamp together.

Thank you! I’ll give it a shot. But I’ve tried to push the pipes in and install the clamps but it just seems to not encapsulate the lip of the core and the pipe.

 

You think it’s the new o rings? Just making it difficult to seat fully?

 

I don’t know? It comes with a silicone o-ring then a hard plastic o-ring. If you leave one of the rings off it does not look like the cup part of the screw clamp even is big enough to encapsulate the lip of the heater core and the inlet/outlet pipe snug. Cause when I think I might have it and check it. it wobbles out or it leaks.
