Yeah that's what I'm thinking I will do but this is a hybrid coating kit so not truly a ceramic from what I am reading.

just feel your paint after you try the cleaner that is included, it will tell you

you can always clay bar it as well, if you do use a shitload of lube lol

Yeah considering I got the truck in April and have barely washed it, the paint should not be contaminated and does still feel smooth.

Quick tip on clay lube…I use the foam gun and use my wash shampoo as lube. Makes the process a lot quicker and easier

^^^^^^this^^^^^^.....to get the most out of your coating, prep is the key. Prior to application, a full decontamination, both mechanical (Clay) and chemical (iron dissolver) should be done......followed by a polish and panel wipe. There's a reason why professional detail shops charge what they do......they perform the steps that the average DIY'er does not.

To be safe I would do some sort of remover before any application to seal in anything imo

And if paint is bad..compound with a good pad and then polish. Or if it’s decent - one step polish

There are certainly levels you can take things to, I’m fine not going that far and with the results

not arguing the steps mentioned , just another viewpoint.

I get it, would like to try all that someday , but for now , this stuff works super good for what it is and how easy it was to do

by far the best thing I have done so far is the spot free rinse , it rules

Just curious did you just wash the truck and then apply the Meguiar's without any of the of the prep work mentioned?

I gave it a good wash and did the prep included in the kit, none of the other steps the fellas were mentioning . My paint was one pretty good shape so I was fine not doing all the extras, I wanted to just try this this way, very pleased with the results for the cost and effort

none so far, but would like to
    Hello all,

New to the forum and brand new to Toyota, bought a 2022 Tundra almost 3 weeks ago. That being said I would like to do my own car washes and just have a few questions. I’m planning on buy a foam cannon (nothing crazy just one off of Amazon) then using Meguiars Gold Class Car Wash Soap and their Interior Detailer. I was not planning on getting any wheel cleaner, I planned on using the Gold Class soap and seeing how it goes. Figured if I didn’t really like it I would buy some wheel cleaner. I was thinking of using Meguiars Ultimate Shine Paint Gloss, my truck has a few marks on it which look like maybe a garden hose was rubbed up against it at some point and my wife’s car has a few marks on the paint almost like scuffs but they don’t come off with a rag and elbow grease. Is there anything anyone uses to take care of this stuff? Last question is a compound or polish better for these types of marks/scuffs/scratches or something else?
    Any ideas/suggestions?

    Thanks
    Jack

I have, most of it seems very high tech for me. I'm thinking a water gun/cannon and soap, something for the wheels/tires and something for the interior. Possibly a polish or something to make the paint shine.

Curious what kind of drainage you have inside the garage to be able to do this in there.

I don’t wash inside the garage, I wash outside and then park in there

My current setup is a gas pressure washer but I am about to change it all. Looking at an Active 2.3 washer, uberflex hose, already have a McKillans stub gun, will add a hose reel to it. Thinking of going with Adams Dual Bed Deoinizer, can filter up-to 2,500 gal per refill at 100ppm tds. I have one Adams foam Cannon and two Chem-X foam cannons. I already have a nice Griots Orbital with a selection of mf pads which I like most.

the nice thing with the Active line is you actually get the GPM out they are actually rated for.

mine started leaking out the bottom at the 1 year mark, I called them and they sent me a entire new unit no qeustions asked

Take a look at the reviews on Youtube of the 2.3.....not sure if you will need a dedicated 20 amp circuit for that one. Look up IMJOSHV and watch his review.....his include noise levels, draw and GPM tests

Honestly, watched them all, including his. When i built my garage they put in 100 amp service and have 20 amp circuits

Still looking at the 2.0 as well.

For now my gas washer is getting it done pretty well. I just hate the noise it brings.
