    Guys & Gals,

I just spoke with TRS in Atlanta and since their is a high demand for a pnp harness for the 2018 headlight assembly. I have been told that TRS is researching a pnp for us 3rd generation Tundra owners. Don't have a confirmed time frame but they have been getting many calls regarding a harness for these led headlights.

Thought I would share the news.

    Ya MotoTundra,

I put the call out to the owners of TRS. I have been buying retro lighting kits from them the past 3 years. I also like the customer support and quality they put into the light kits. I'm good at building buildings but not in auto electronics.

Feel more comfortable buying from the guys who back there products.

I spoke with TRS as they were replying to my e mail they were bringing in a 2018 Tundra and scoping it out. Can't wait to see what they come up with.

Great idea talking with them. I imagine the pnp from them would be priced fairly reasonably.

    I agree 16tunterd,

Since TRS make their own light kits I would think they would be able to mass produce at a reasonable price.

I've been in contact with Ballenger Motorsports (www.bmotorsports.com) and they are in the process of obtaining the 8 pin female plugs from Yazaki. Once they have them, you would be able to order all the parts needed to put this harness together from one source. They are also checking into obtaining the 3 pin directional/parking light male and female plugs to reconfigure that circuit and simplify the installation.

I wonder how much this would impact their retrofit parts business?

    Tom,

I would assume it would help? Not everyone likes the factory look. The harness would be for those folks that like the oem look.

potentially - i'm genuinely curious - i wonder how many potential retro customers would be lured by the simplicity of the factory LEDs.

I think it's a common business problem - a new, lower cost widget thing comes along to replace an old, high revenue, high margin widget. do you enable migration, cash in early and maintain market share, take the hit in revenue for the longer term benefit, or do you hold on to what you've got and hope for the best?

I'm just nerding out on a Satuday because i'm too lazy/distracted to do any weekend work.

There was a thread on here a while ago about MBAs - i wouldn't mind their input too!

Sure their retrofit sales may take a slight hit, but that’s a risk I would take because of the potential profit that they could make if they start selling the harness for the led headlights.

They have to keep catering to what’s “in” if they want to be relevant long term.

If they don't make one, someone else will. If there is a shift to OEM 18s over retros, they should have their hands in it.

While they have their crimp tools out, they need to do the 2018 Sequoia harness as well for us 2nd gen'ers.

You buy the 2018 headlights from @Roman. There's a thread about the parts and where to buy 'em.

    ***EDIT***
Starting to get a LOT of emails, so I figure I better update the OP in this thread for everyone to include all the information we have currently. Links to both headlights in the store are at the bottom of this post. It will take quite a while to receive them, so expect AT LEAST a few weeks if not longer (most likely longer). Also, no one has produced and started selling a working wire harness to convert your 2014-2017 style headlamps, but I will update this as soon as one is made. I will not have any affiliation with whomever produces this harness, and will assume no responsibility for anything to do with that part. Physically, the LED headlights appear to be the exact same as the older style as far as mounting them, so I don't think we will have any trouble there, BUT I won't know for 100% certain until someone bolts them up. Sorry, but it's the law student in me who has to speak in non-absolutes to cover my rear. :D

Got one side in over the weekend, so I took some shots to compare the new LED headlamps to the older style headlamps.

It will be just a matter of time before someone here will retro fit the 18 headlight.

I was at the TRS shop the other day and speaking with Jimmy that they're definitely interested in selling a PnP harness. TRS also sells harnesses for the Ford F150 to hook up the Ford Raptor lights. So this seems normal for them.
