Hi, new member here, just bought a 2024 SR5 which did not come with seat heaters. Have purchased a Rostra after market seat heater kit. Have looked in past post but have not been able to find out were I can go to for proper 10 amp power supply for each seat. I know some folks have tapped into the top of fuse panels but there has to be a better more professional way to hook into 12 volt power. Is there a spot one can make these connections with out major disassembly of electrical components?

There is possibly already power under the seat for it. I’m not %100 sure on the gen3 but my gen2.5 had power wiring under the seats, I added an aftermarket seat heater, so all I had to do was install a fuse and hook up my heater to the wires under there.

What Eddie says. Run a cable direct from the battery and up through one of the grommets in the floor. I used a kit like that in my 2009 Tacoma and the heated seats worked great. Removing and reinstalling the seat covers was a real PITA but the electrical part is easy.

I know going directly to the battery terminal is an option that a lot of folks use and I may wind up doing that but there should be a way to avoid hooking small power supplies to battery terminals. I did check for wires under the seat and found a white plug, black plug and a yellow plug (which I think is for the air bag). All of the wires on these three plugs look to be 16 gauge wire which would not handle the ten amp load rating of one of the seat heaters. I am wondering if I could tap into the 12 volt cigarette style power supply on the dash for one seat and maybe hook into the HDMI phone charger ports in the console for the other seat, I would likely never use these otherwise. Does anyone know what the fuse AMP rating is on the these two items? I don't see them identified on the fuse box lids in the engine compartment.

You can also use fuse taps on a 20 or 30 amp circuit in the fuse box behind the glove box. I did similar on my Tacoma and it worked fine. IIRC I used the power window circuit since there was no chance I'd be running both the seat heaters on high *and* cycling all the power windows at the same time. And if you do, you might blow a fuse is all.

I use these adding fans, blue safety lamps on fork trucks. These work perfectly as to not splice into factory wiring.
Don't bother trying to find a (wire) in the cab, can-bus is no fun to mess with or F up.either.
