Have a 2014 Crew Max Limited and the rear passenger door stopped locking/unlocking both with the key fob and the front door switches. Recently installed a new radio and had to do some wiring in the passenger kick panel but everything is reconnected and plugged in as it was. Assuming just a door actuator? Thanks!

It sounds like you didn't hook the lock rods back up or correctly. The actuator has nothing to do with the key. That's a mechanical link.

Is it just the one door that's not working and does it lock/unlock if you manually flip the lock switch on that door? It looks like in the interior fuse panel #3 is for door locks, did you tinker with that fuse at all? If you press the unlock button can you hear that door trying to lock/unlock? Could be something as simple as the cable popped loose.

Yes it’s just the one door, I will check that fuse. What I was doing in the passenger kick panel area was trying to find the signal wire for my back-up camera install but did not go as planned or explained on forums. Did end up having to replace the 10amp fuse BK/UP LP. The door locks and unlocks fine when doing it from the interior manually, does not make any clicks or sounds when I press the button from that door. Will update when I check that fuse. Thanks!

Oh ok, well I didn’t do anything in the door physically, just some wiring stuff in the passenger kick panel and had to replace a fuse.

Could also be a wire in the loom from the frame to door is broken. I have had this happen before on another truck.

If it locks and unlocks manually fine, then the cable in the door is fine. Has to be something electrical then, either the actuator like you mentioned or a broken wire like @Chris001 mentioned. If you're other doors unlock fine, the fuse I mentioned should be good. Do the window controls work on that door? Getting at the connector on the inside of the truck is a bit of a PITA, but on the exterior you can easily peel back the grommet and inspect the wires there. If you have a multi-meter or a test light you could do some diagnostics that way to see if there's a break somewhere.

A few... Definitely more than 2
These trucks (and other Toyota vehicles that use the same actuators) have a known issue with weak motors in the actuators, this does not affect every truck but it is pretty common. Last I check it was like $150 + labor to replace the entire actuator assembly or I bought a 4 pack of motors for $6 and replaced all the locks in my door. Those motors have been going strong for a little over 4 years now so I am happy.

I have said this in a few different threads, but if you want to tackle the work yourself it is a pretty easy process. Check out the threads I linked here.

EDIT: Important note!!! If you do want to tackle this yourself while it is easy, you do have a potential to really screw stuff up. I suggest a thorough bench test to verify every single function of the actuator before you put it in the truck.

Thanks @Snert @Chris001 and @APalmTree ended up just being a broken wire in the kick panel area pulling back a little bit of loom. Really appreciate the insight!
