That’s a lot of water Dave. Are using that for showers or are you planning to water those desert thirsty plants on the side of the trails?

Hey Dave, curious about what you feel are the benefits of this water setup over the dual aquatainers other than the increased capacity?

Not a whole lot, really. It's the same pump and hose, so the only real difference is not having to switch tanks and it's easier to see the water level.

edit: and it was an excuse to make stuff

Thank you! I tried to upload these to their website but for some reason I don't get the option to select a material, I'm going to reach out to them and see what's going on. How much did you pay for the brackets?

Really like your whole thread. I like it when you just build it and get it done. That rear bumper is
really impressive. Was that a send cut send idea with your own template for sections?
I’d like info on that Jack, I’ve never seen one before. I just got a CoastalOffroad bumper kit
Can you reach the freespool lever? Or are you power out and power in?
Local guy tried to sell me a new Miller 225 TIG. Like I don’t have enough to do.
If I had a new welder I’d never get out of the shop

The rear bumper was my design and all hand made except for a couple of the hitch brackets, which I had cut by sendcutsend. I designed the whole bumper in cad first to get an idea of how I wanted it to look then used cardboard to mock it up on the truck and cut the steel.
    IMG_20220920_155702634.jpg

I can easily reach the spool lever through the front of the bumper.

    The jack: Powerbuilt 620471 Unijack - 6000...

Thanks, you got skills! Few years ago instead of forking out $2200 for a fancy bumper I bought
a $1900 plasma cutter and made my own. This was before sendcutsend ideas even existed. World has
    changed.
Any tips on doing the Coastal Offroad bumper? I haven't really looked at it yet, too much else.
But soon. How tight do you tighten that center section on before you get to it? Seems to me that's where it
    starts.
Thanks on the jack. Much better than highlift.

If i remember right, you build the center section on the bench and install it on the truck, then build the rest of it on the vehicle so you can tack up the little pieces and make sure its all level and symmetrical. My only advice is take your time getting it all in place and aligned, and when you weld it up try and jump around and not put too much heat into one spot at a time.

Cool. It's a decent tent, especially for the price. FYI, the Xped Megamat Duo fits perfect in there if the stock mattress isn't cutting it.

Nice thanks for the tip on the mattress. I will probably look into that. I've got a single wide self inflating, but also was looking at a Hest Dually (Long) thats on sale for $411 at REI right now.

You ever have issues with this jack binding up on you, Dave? Ran into a situation a couple months ago where I could lower the jack until the wheel hit the ground and then it wouldn’t lower any further. So weight of vehicle could lower it but not gravity alone. Tried a pry bar and then just gave up and drove off it. Wondering if I did something wrong. I know @Cruzer has one. Already asked Jake and he said no issues

Gotcha. I’m thinking I might ditch it and just keep the factory bottle jack + add a tauler jack for those situations when a bottle back can’t be stuffed under there.

Just need to find a welder who could build my tauler for me

Awesome build! Your welding projects all look great and make me want to play hooky from work and start some of my own.

Question about your DIY rear bumper and hitch receiver…have you towed with it much? I have aspirations of building my own similar design. Someone in another thread somewhere on here mentioned that raising the receiver changes how tongue weight is distributed through the frame and could reduce how much you can tow. No idea if there’s truth in that or if something can be engineered to minimize the reduction, and I’m curious what you have found with yours.

I haven't towed with it. I've driven thousands of miles with my dirtbike on a hitch carrier and it's held up to that just fine. Makes sense that moving the hitch would change the leverage on the frame though.

Gonna be a busy week. Pulling diffs to take to ZUK for revolution 5.29s and a powertrax, then while its apart going to replace the front springs with 700's and ditch the solid motor mounts. Also gong to try and clean and paint the undercarriage if its not too cold.
