Anyone have a successful way to remove old spray paint from a single stage white 2002 tundra? Previous owner used it to cover scratches.

I've looked it up online and some methods seem like they would harm the truck's paint.

Ive tried a clay bar with no success.

Yes, any rubbing compound will happily pull that out. I personally like No.7, and you'll need to follow up with (ideally) polish, and wax.

Claybar removes contaminants. It's not intended to 'cut'. Rubbing compound is used for cutting.

    It will work, 100%.

Test at one end first. Dab your finger in the Rubbing compound about half the size of a pea, and swirl it in a nickel-sized circle for about 30-45 seconds, or until you see the spray paint fade out. If successful, buff away with a clean terrycloth.

If you have a DA/orbital/random-orbit with hook and loop, you can make faster work of it with an orange correcting pad. If you don't a corded version of one of those, and don't want to buy, you can get something like these (which I like) and something like this in a 3" drill-chuckable standoff. Both you can find on scAmazon, and potentially get the real-deal part. Just remember: Don't stay in one spot. Move side to side in rows, across the panel like you're mowing a yard, i.e., do one row, drop down do the next row, drop down to the next row, then I like to go up-and-down in rows just the same.
