My truck, 02 RC, with the 5vz, doesn't have a tachometer in the instrument cluster from the factory. I was wondering if it would be possible to install an instrument cluster from the 4.7 that has the tach, or even the fancy Sequoia one? Has anyone done this? I guess that it would be plug-and-play but I would need to calibrate it for my truck. Let me know! Thanks once again

You'll probably need a v6 cluster as the tachometer count is different due to the IC on the circuit board.

I was under the assumption that this was plug and play but another member just the other day tried to install a V6 cluster in his V6 truck and the tach did not function but the cluster wasn't from the same year truck. If you were going to try it you need to try your best to get one from the same year as your truck and from what I've heard it needs to be from a V6 as well.

Looking at the other guys post he seems to have bought a V6 cluster for an 02 and it didn't work, you may shoot him a PM and if he isn't returning it, see if he'd be willing to sell to you or something to see if it will work for you since it matches the year you need.

Thanks lol, I fixed the lights it was just the dome fuse but the truck leaked all the tranny fluid out of the driveshaft seal so it's disabled for a few days lol

Alright everyone, I just received my new cluster in the mail. Time to install. Now, how do I go about making sure the miles read correctly?

Well I'd say it'd probably be best to verify that the cluster works in your truck first. How far off is the mileage? (I guess you won't know till you plug it in) I'm not sure how difficult that's going to be to get lined out.

That's the plan! I have 43,000 right now, the new dash is 200,014. I haven't plugged it in, but it says it is written in sharpie on it.

You could contact a speedometer repair shop. Some can reprogram mileage.

They may require you bringing it to a repair facility and having them ship both in to change the mileage.

Alright everone, IT WORKS!. I just plugged it right up! Literally just a simple swap. I got a cluster for my exact make and model and engine! Now, does anyone know a place that will fix my milage?

Yes, @assassin10000 told you this already above. That’s one of very few options. Odometer tampering is basically illegal to do yourself. You need to find a specialty shop/service.

the ODO display on some of the older toyotas can be swapped from the older cluster. i've done it on first gen tacos. like 2 screws to pop it out after disassembling the cluster

Resetting the odometer involves EPROM programming.
