not trying to sound sarcastic... just really explaining it. it was really easy ... i think

bought faux alligator leather, made a template on scrap fabric from old t-shirts and tested out till satisfied, then cut and sew it together. for the shifter, found one i liked, looked old school. none of the included adapters fitted the tundra shifter post so i went to the hardware store, found a bold that screwed onto the trd shifter then i found a nut (two actually) that matched the bolt.

screwed the two nuts onto the bolt very tightly then grind them round and smooth till they fitted into the shifter where the adapters would have gone. filled the hole with two part epoxy and put the bolt with the two nuts still on it into the shifter. let it dry, removed the bolt and installed in truck.

Hey man, did you order a Tacoma boot from Redline and add the extra length, or a Tundra boot?

Would you order it the same way again? Or was the extra a perfect fit?

About to order a nappa leather boot from them and don't want to have to redo it if it doesn't fit right. Thanks!

It's the "Tesla style" Android head unit. There are several iterations of it. The place I purchased from was Phoenix Automotive. If you do buy one, keep in mind there are different Android versions available.

Did anyone who made this mod switch to the tacoma shifter gates? I find the shift into drive pretty annoying needing to move it right and left so much, the tacoma looks like it's almost straight up and down from R to D?

ya know guys, there is one problem with having a leather type boot covering the shifter gate for the later model trucks .... The boot covers the interlock cover.


I had a blown fuse for my brake / tail light circuit and once THAT happened there was NO communication from my brake pedal to the start button. /.... WhoDaThunk..... I could NOT start my truck. When AAA got here they asked . will your truck go into neutral - - - - - NO !
that when I learned of this trick button.

that's the little flathead screw driver slot / DOOR in the upper left front corner.

Do any of you know what that piece of equipment does.... ? IT allows the truck transmission to get into NEUTRAL for moving & towing reasons


Tow Truck Drivers like AAA - - - - WILL NOT TOW a vehicle anymore that is Locked into Park. They will NOT disconnect the driveline anymore .

It allows you to put the truck in neutral without the key, say for an emergency crew that needs to move the vehicle. You pop the tab out and there is a button that allows the shifter to move out of park.

Luckily removing the boot is a 2 minute job lol pull the trim panel and access is there

Slightly modified Temu shift knob (pit the thread adapter in from the top instead of the bottom to lower it by an inch or so) and an Amazon boot.

 

Folded the boot over so the gear indicator shows.

 

Has anyone lowered/cut their shift lever?
I'm thinking of a custom nob but would like the lever about 3" shorter.
