My rear passenger side has a lean of approx 1.8" lower than the driver side? Wondering what could cause this? Could the rear shock or spring be worn out? Has 92k miles. Here's a pic and I just measured from center of wheel to top of wheel well.

Shock doesn't seem to be leaking.

Driver's side lean is normal, passenger's side is not.

Measure the distance between the bump stop on the rear axle and the strike plate on the frame on both sides. If that measurement is different then check the leaf springs for broken leaves or bent parts, etc.

Anybody borrowed the truck recently? Looks like it had a possible load shift incident.

Definitely check your leaf springs. If your passenger is flatter or has negative arch compared to driver side, then that should be the culprit.

So i measured the distance between the bump stops and strike plate and there is definitely aprrox 1" difference. The passenger side is less. I don't see a broken spring but here are pictures of the spring

Your spring appears inverted at the mounting plate / U bolts and are practically touching the overload. Them dudes are flattening. Oddly mine have a similar appearance, minus the touching the overload.

Should I replace the spring? I wondering if that would fix the sag.

Any recommendations on where to source springs. General spring seems to have regular and heavy duty versions. Should I look elsewhere?

I'll be doing Dobinson 330-770lb leafs, perhaps next year. My 6.5' bed is sprayed, has ~200 lbs Leer cap, 50 lbs roof rack, awning, canoe mounts, so about 300 extra lbs unloaded.

Also you may want to replace your shocks.

Aftermarket is rather broad in options:
Alcan (IIRC, regarded as the best and custom options too)
    Dobinsons (as mentioned by vtl)
    Deaver
    Icon
    OME

Right now it's the time to decide to stay stock or go the extra mile :p

Okay, I think i'm going to order the dobinsons. I don't carry much load so not going to get HD version. What else should I replace with the leaf springs?

My truck also has this same lean, my wife was behind me and snapped this pic because of how noticeable it was. I noticed it when in my garage on level floor before and measured all kinds of points on the truck with no real answer other than the bed it self is leaning. IMG_4967.jpg

Maybe check your mounting points where the bed attaches to the frame and see if one of them has collapsed or the bushing has failed.

    Mine looks slightly like @Abell207’s.

I wonder if it comes down to the one-wheel-peel torque from the rear axle. Maybe that wears out the passenger side leafs more quickly than the driver side when taking off aggressively from a stop.

It would seem this may also be why everyone’s rear axle is slightly off-center as well. If you have aftermarket wheels with a lower offset, you can really tell. One side seems to have more offset than the other.

My wife did say when I floor it the lean looks ridiculous. So maybe you’re onto something. Since my truck is supercharged I wonder if it has worn that side out completely… I’ll post in the general supercharger thread and see if other people are noticing the same thing.

Newer trucks put out more torque for sure, but 401 ft lb is PLENTY going to one wheel. Notice the shocks on the rear are mounted opposite of each other. This is probably to counteract the torque being applied to the rear axle. But we still see minor movement like this.

PS: I see it on my truck if I stare at it long enough. It does not bother me though. Maybe it would if I were running lower offset wheels.

PPS: I wonder how bad it would be on the hybrid 3rd gens if they were leaf-sprung in the rear. I would think (speculating here) the multi-link coil sprung situation they have going on in the rear holds things in place more. It will be interesting to see if 3rd gen owners post about their rear axle being offset.

Love the Army green. The lean drives me nuts. I'm waiting on a quote from Alcan springs for a new set. I'm not looking for a lift, want to keep the same trdpro stance for now. Waiting to hear what they will quote.
