I am NO mechanic. 21 Tundra crew, 32k. I live in the devils di*•khole FL so it runs 10 months a year full blast. When should a system be recharged, is it even necessary? Thanks in advance

If it’s cooling properly, don’t mess with it. Proper AC servicing requires vacuum pump, refrigerant recovery system, gauge and hose set, oil and refrigerant. Unless it has a leak somewhere or compressor grenades, it should work for the life of vehicles. I’ve seen lots of folks screw their systems by using the local auto parts recharge kits.

Thank you!! It is working fine, just struggles when Satan is literally breathing hot air around this moisture pit state. I figured the recharge “cans” were a gimmick or unnecessary, just needed confirmation.

Unless is not cooling properly, don't mess with it. I am in Texas and my 2013 started to run weak around 2021 and I did full system recharge for like $160 and it was perfect from there. They added dye to the re-charge to make sure no leaks and that was about it. Still runs strong to this day.

Not in the Orlando area, it’s like a walking through flaming hot phlegm.

One thing you can do to make sure your A/C is running efficient, is to clean and hose down your condenser if it is dirty and cover with bugs. And change your filter inside the glove box.
