Found a needle. Searched for a little over 2 months when suddenly she fell from the sky. Very grateful to the seller for saving it for me as he had numerous calls and offers above asking price. I made sure to get a quick jump and send a deposit right away.

    2004 4x4 DC Limited.
    -81k
    -Oil, ATF and Coolant: pristine
    -Body / Frame: 9.5/10
    -Southern truck
-Undercoated (per seller - owner was just that kind of person)
    -Timing belt: @75k
    -Not a leak anywhere
    -4wd works perfect.
    -The tires are still hairy

All original, and all service was done by Toyota w/ records.

After reading shifty’s “So you wanna buy…” post,

the gaskets/seals come to mind. This truck was driven an average of 4k miles/ year. As said there are no leaks. I would expect, if I had an issue w/ seals, I would see something. Drove it home 6 hrs and not a rattle or burp of any kind.
I like how the truck shifts. Not soft, but not rough by any means. I can feel it engaging as it should.

Upgrades: I wouldn’t mind modernizing the truck in a subtle way, without disrespecting it. It deserves only the best care and the seller’s only wish was that it would go to a responsible owner that would take great care of it. There is some sentimental value here since it was a family member’s who passed.
I want to honor that and at the same time make it my own.

Being mindful of: ball joints, coolant / trans oil, and this: “4WD trucks have ample grease zerks on the driveline and need to be lubed with moly-fortified NLGI 2 grease every 5k-10k miles”, as well as regular maintenance.
I am looking for input for the things I may overlook w/ specifically the 2004 1GT.
05-06 have a different trans and VVT I believe?
I couldn't really find much on the 2004 model - which may be a really good sign.

    I’ve installed a Kenwood DMX958xr w backup cam.
Not a fan of the faux wood dash bezels but will not compromise them for a different look. Maybe I will find black in good shape at a junk yard but dreaming. Wish there was an alternative that would not damage the panels.

Lights: I have read a little info on LED projectors, which I would prefer, but from what I understand, I may need additional wiring / harness? I need to research more.

    Lift:
I have seen some very nice lifts that are subtle but give the 1GTs more of a modern truck look.
-Bilstein? Have not ventured down this road yet.
    -Tire size? 32s? 33s?
There seems to be varying opinions, but
I do not want rub, and will not cut or hammer anything.

I have a lot of homework to do and plan on doing it, but if anyone has a 2004 and already went down this road, suggestions and do's / don'ts are certainly appreciated.

Side note, that rear window is outstanding.

Looks great! You can tell it has been well kept care of.

2004 was the first year of the Double Cab. 2005/06 brought changes across with the updated 4.7 and 5 speed transmission.

However, your truck has a transmission dipstick, unlike the 2005-06 trucks. That makes drain & fills a lot easier. The 2004 transmission was solid and generally trouble-free.
