hi, I would like to know why my tundra will not shift out of park. I also need to replace the brake lines and wanted to know if they have a 1pc line.

Welcome aboard! The truck may not shift out of park for a few reasons. Neutral safety switch being one, frozen linkage system being another. If you step on the brake firmly, do you hear or feel a soft click in the shifter?
The brake lines are not one piece. There are hard line sections and soft line sections. Would have to figure out which one needs replacing.

Truck should be running and the brake must be applied to come out of park. The brake lines are one piece from the caliper to the main line. Then you have the hard lines that are manufactured and bent certain ways. But the flexible lines from the calipers are usually in the 8 to 14 inch long range.

you can turn the key to the full on position and step on the brake and it should come out of park that way also I do believe. If not does not come out of park you have other problems, might be an easy fix might not??

^^^^ what was said up above^^^

Congratulations on your new gift. I would recommend getting your son to take a look at it himself if it’s not a simple fix. He’s probably familiar with the issue.

I do something similar in the 4Runner; reaching for the shifter and jamming my left foot into the firewall looking for a nonexistent clutch pedal from my single cab taco days

People who grew up driving a standard (i.e. 3 on the tree) typically didn’t know you had to depress the brake to shift out of park on an automatic.

    Much before my time.
