I was going to use rustoleum high build primer with zinc and then some black gloss enamel. Doesn’t the truck bed coating stuff hold moisture? The dross bar on the hitch doesn’t look as bad as the safety chain spots.

What you're planning on using will work just fine. Just do a bunch of coats and then leave it alone for a week so it cures.

Today I installed my amber lights and man what a pain in the ass. I had to make some brackets which is what was the cause of the ass pain. At 12k lumens and only costing $40, I'm pretty happy with them.

Im not sure either way. I’ve done mine a few time with it. I figured it would have a bit my resistance to rock chips from gravel etc, esp on the backside under the truck. I live in CO so moisture isn’t a huge problem!

For those of you with the ICS fab dash mount, how much do things bounce around that are bolted to it? I have my phone mount and ipad mount screwed into the speaker grill (that the plate replaces) but they bounce around all the time when just driving or wheeling. Looking for a solution, would rather buy once cry once then keep on changing mounts etc

Recent purchase, 2 months, 2007 with 180,000 miles. Off road journeys to National Parks and scenic spots using OnXOffRoad. Completing a major service now. Will be exploring the 4 Corners for the next few months. I’ll post photo's.

Yeah I just super glued a mount to my dash and it bounces around if I really get after it. If I'm going above 20mph, my phone will bounce out of it. v

Is this a gimbal designed for your phone? Bouncing out…. Not acceptable.

I'll take a picture of my setup and post it, my phone or ipad won't bounce out, but even on the the street it bounces up and down pretty aggressively; the plate looks nice so the $80 isn't asking a whole lot (current speaker plate has holes in it) but I'd rather not pay $80 and still have everything bounce up and down; if thats the case I can just buy another speaker grille plate and call it a day

I have the ICS fab dash mount and a RAM mount attached to it. It doesn't move AT ALL.

Gave her a fairly thorough detail in and out. Used the Cerakote tire dressing for the first time.
Had to contact CalTrend to replace the bottom part of my driver side seat cover. I’m hoping the rest of the covers last more than 6 months.

sweet, thanks for the input, sounds like that’s what I’ll be doing then

picture of the current setup is below (ignore the random wires, I’ve got to rerun power for the dashcam)

Well I diagnosed some issues today with my trucks vibrations.. carrier bearing is bad and my suspension is shit lol so I have some planning to do. Probably looking at the icon stage 1 kit cause I can knock out all 4 shocks/struts in one package. add some UCAs and I’ll be good to go.
Also spent about 8 hours detailing the inside of my truck, shampooed the seats, floors, steamed the plastics. Wish I had before and after photos but I was into it today and forgot. Looking like it rolled of the lot brand new now!

I made my appointment for Sep. 23 to have my truck NHO undercoated again. They also offer a service where they coat the wheel well's with a very viscous oil product for additional protection in this area. I know, not glamorous, but I need to keep this truck rust free and that's not easy to do in Pennsylvania.

Quick swap of the steering wheel today, had it laying around for the longest. Still have some wiring to do for the controls but it’ll be great once it’s fully functional.

Self control is hard being on this page lol I pulled the trigger and I’m taking care of a handful of items, hopefully I solve my vibrations in the process. just ordered the following items, I plan on taking plenty of before and after photos. While I install if I find some good tricks or methods I’ll share that here as well!
Icon stage 1 suspension kit: front & rear
    Bilstien UCAs
    OEM CV axles
Alignment stop kit from bison offroad
    Carrier bearing
    Rear drive shaft U-joints
    Valve cover seals
    Roof drip trims

between my trusted mechanic and Toyota, the rest of my truck is still minty. So this long list will carry the ol girl another 100k or more. Now to ask for the wife’s forgiveness cause I definitely didn’t ask permission lol I’m sensing a very meaningful Mother’s Day gift is coming her way

This thread is a constant reminder to practice self restraint. A hard task but given your predicament I think you made some great buys.

FYI if you're lifting the truck enough you might need a carrier bearing drop as well, basically just two small spacers to drop the carrier on the driveshaft about 1/2-3/4" depending on lift heights in the rear

I’m not cranking it up there. The previous owner put a 2.5” rough country lift. So I’m going to keep it the same height cause I don’t see the point in going any higher

Faded powder coat on Smittybilt bumper so I washed it twice with dawn to degrease. Taped it off and hit it well with rattle can. Could still see some stripes due to spray variations.
Got some more paint today and a low nap roller. Sprayed paint into paper plate and picked it up with roller and rolled the second coat. Very happy with results in my refresh attempt.

Changed oil in sons 08 4Runner. Man was that ever quick and easy compared to my tundra. (Filter location)
