I really appreciate you taking the time to post these. Yep, that’s exactly what these look like, box and filter. I feel relieved now that I didn’t buy counterfeit ones.
    Thanks again!!

No problem. Offer up a link on Amazon where you bought them so others can get the non counterfeit filters if they choose to buy from Amazon.

Are you sure those are not counterfeit? The picture on Amazon shows slightly different print on the box. Is the word TOYOTA visible on the pleats on the filter?

Yeah the picture in the ad is possibly a generic photo. The ones I received look exactly like your pictures thank goodness.Oh and yes, the word Toyota looks just like yours as well and it’s only on one pleat, not all of them.

Just ordered the 5-pack from Amazon. Supposedly sold through a Toyota shop, so will confirm when I receive.

Everything from Amazon takes a full week to get here, so it’ll be a minute…

Did you order from the link I posted or a different one. Just wanted to add it to my cart if it’s different. Mine showed sold by G.P.S. but shipping from Amazon.

That’s exactly why. No use to have 5W30 sitting around if it’s not being used. All of the bulk is in two large storage containers which have 5w20 and 0w20 full synthetic. The “other” grades are in bottles in the parts department.

Used 0W20 till the 3/27/2020 oil change, 5W30 since then. Didn't really tell much difference in engine noise, etc. My engine has never been noisy. In the chart, first three analyses are on the 0W20, last three on 5W30. Did the 3/27/2020 service to see if there were many differences for the shorter change interval. Very little difference in numbers regardless of OCI. Didn't have the analysis done for the last oil change. Will have it checked next time. Engine has 225K on it now.

So you're just doing annual-ish oil changes no matter how many miles you drive? Any filter changes in between?

24k mile oil changes is a ballsy move, glad you're willing to do it on your truck.

Those of you suggesting 8.5qts for a change, where are you getting this quantity? From the manual, pg 521 it says drail and fill 7.9 (with filter), 7.5 (without filter).

Not sure when it changed, but it went up to 8.5 with filter. I know my manual calls for 8.5 with my 2018.

Regardless of what the manual says, it depends what the dipstick says. For example, our honda pilot would always take half quart more than the manual says to get to full on the stick.

This is how I do it. It’s usually 8-8.5 quarts depending on how well I drained the oil.

Yeah, once a year or so. No filter change in between oil changes, although Amsoil says the EA15K04 filter is good up to 15K, I've run them same length as the oil. I've done the same with every vehicle I've ever owned, and never owned a vehicle for less than 15 years. I've never had a problem (except the A/C on my wife's '09 VW Beetle. Hate working on that car!)

It was a long time ago so I don't remember all the details. It was when synthetics were fairly new. A friend blew an engine and dealer said it was not oil related. Not sure if they did an analysis on the oil or just determined that from teardown. He was running Mobil 1.

My 2021 is similar to some others, 8 quarts puts me square in the middle of the dots on the dipstick. 8.5 gets me perfectly to the top fill mark on the dipstick. I run 0w20 and if I recall, that's what Vic Shepherd ran in both his million mile Tundras. I'm not married to the weight, but I live in MI so seems reasonable to stay w the 0w20.

But I do agree with others, a quality oil and 5k oci is the most important variable

8qts puts you in-between the low and high marks. 8.5qts puts you right at the high mark.

2017 manual states 7.9 with filter. So maybe 18 is when they changed the manual? Post a picture of the page!

    ___________________________________________________

Just to add some info here. I've had my 17 for just under two years now. Always used 5w-30 and 5k changes for 20k miles.

Below is my last report. 3k of that 5k was towing various weights. Pennzoil High-Milage 5w-30 because it was on sale for $23/5qt and I happened to be at Walmart.

I could easily extend to 7-10k changes with those TBN numbers.

***Note: The engine model is wrong, I have a 3UR-FBE (Flex-Fuel).

Yep when I swapped from ‘17 to a ‘20 I noticed the .6 quart oil difference. Being as paranoid as I am and noticing they made this change when they removed the trans cooler in 2018 it made me think they are trying to stop these trucks from lasting. Higher trans fluid temp and bubbles in the engine oil from overfill would certainly do that without the risk of them crapping out before the warranty. All that being said my 2020 tundra gets 8 quarts and no more with filter change

2018 has trans cooler with thermostat on the passenger side of the case, but not what this thread is about.

As far as oil fill capacity, you’re 100% fine if the oil lands between the marks. This motor does not care if it’s 94% filled to the listed capacity. I’d bet you could run 7 quarts and be fine for a long, long time.
