Just a thought I had this morning. You ever consider those sumi connectors aren’t up to snuff for that job. As I was making my connector last night I was thinking “these pins are pretty thin”. I haven’t looked up their specs but know they’re rated for 14awg. And that’s what the the SP wiring is, but looking at them I’m not sure I’d put 15A through them. Anyway. Just a thought

    Sqaure peg…round hole…

    Poor/undersized conductor/terminal mating = high resistance…high resistance = voltage drop…voltage drop = higher current…

    Ohm’s LAW

and a 50 onx gets pretty dang close to hitting that 35 amp ceiling of the high current circuits in ideal conditions, let alone all of the other loads on concurrently.

other than the usual house keeping items, resistance to ground, properly seated connections etc…

    I’d :
    1. ditch those connectors in favor of deutsch DTP at a minimum (if you split load between 4 circuit connector) better would be a set of DTHDs as they’re rated to carry the nearly 30 amp that bar draws…
    2. Look at offloading the 50” bar duties to a external relay. I really like using either one of these as aux relay

note that this us a double…

Where the hell do you find this stuff??

and if you want to make your life simpler, Casey, I’d just throw on an Anderson connector and call it good. Cheap and effective. SP should be able to carry the rest

I think in this situation you’d just want to twist them together and wrap with a little duct tape to keep the resistance down. Maybe double up on the sprinkler wire between the SP and the Onx though.

The circuit splits to two terminals to mate up to the switch pro. The OnX is spec’d at 28A - yes, it’s high but leaves a 20% margin on a 35A breaker/fuse.

I prefer the Sumi connectors over Deutsch. I may switch to 187’s on the higher amp circuits, but need to go some more testing first.

End all will be to offload the 50” to a dedicated switch and relay, but I’m not ready to give up on the SP yet.

You could always just relay the circuit on the SP and not have to run all the wiring for a dedicated switch. Though I know you have switch blanks for days now…

one thing that bothers me is they don’t say at what voltage the that is spec’d at…is that ~29 amps at 14.4 volts? At 13.8vdc current goes up to 30.5A..at 12 volts 35a…

The SwitchPro will handle it, I had my 50" Onx and my 40" S8 on the switchpro as well as rock lights with no problems. I do not do the BD connectors and always use Deutsch connectors depending on the required current for the series for each connector. Not sure if the 9100 has changed since I used it (in the cabinet in the garage waiting to go on the wifes FunRunner) but mine had a 30A circuit that was required to short pins 9&10 coming from the 20 pin connector and it had 4 dedicated 35A circuits all on the 4 pin connector with one wire. Just make sure the numbers match the current and length requirements and you should be good

Pretty common for them to default that to 12V.

If there is one thing I am absolutely incapable of, it is leaving well enough alone.

Decided to go back to the "Poor Man's CAI" and will be listing the TRD version up for sale. I had 90% of the parts already for the "poor man" version, so I just went ahead and ordered the accordion piece (part PTR03-00140-AB) to finish it off and go back to the original air box lid. The stock air box lid outlet OD is about 1/4" smaller DIA than the TRD one, but it just meant a couple more turns on the worm clamp to snug it down. Everything else buttoned up just fine. At this point, the only things that aren't "official TRD CAI" parts are the PCV hose, the air box lid, and the air filter (since I'm running the aFe Dry filter).

    Other steps in this journey:
Intake Flow Accelerator and Carbon Filter Delete
aFe Magnum Flow Dry Air Filter
Straight Intake Tube (and elbow fitting)

Figure it's going to be easier to sell the TRD CAI kit with the air box lid eye candy.
I might get around to doing up a stencil and painting mine or something some day (who am I kidding...probably not).
The part I wanted was the smooth straight intake section with the matching TRD parts. The air box lid is just a lid...
