Went to Home Depot for a raised flower bed. Got this galvanized steel one for $160. Then plastidip sprayed the inside and exterior bottom to prevent rusting away.

(Edit: Drilled holes around the perimeter for drainage before spraying)

Filled it with four bags of potting soil and turned my girlfriend loose. All those succulents were in individual pots taking space in my patio.

Shouldn't it drain water also? I really don't know. I know some of these things have drains some don't.

I drilled a couple holes around the perimeter too. Forgot to add that.

I've been super terrible at keeping before and after photos of my front yard landscaping project. Truth be told it's been like 2 years in the making all done by me and my family. Lots of rentals and lots of work but there's something about the satisfaction you get when you do it yourself.
This is an aerial view from Google maps as you can see we started off with all natural desert landscaping.
    PXL_20231206_174957882~2.jpg
The first phase we worked on was the lower/street portion of the circle driveway. Complete removal and rebuild with rock, retaining wall, turf, flagpole. (Just realized my old 2.5 gen is in this photo) Miss that truck sometimes...
PXL_20211009_201327654.PANO.jpgThis is an after photo from Google Street view.
Screenshot_20240330-191730~2.pngThis was all done last year, this year we've been working on "phase 2" which is the upper portion of the circular driveway. It's almost done, I just gotta add some rock on the side of the turf to match the bottom portion you see above.
PXL_20240331_002446272.jpg PXL_20240331_002512719.jpgOverall it's coming together nicely, most importantly the wife loves it. "Phase 3" is the upper portion above the rock wall (hard to see in the picture). "Phase 4" is our backyard which has already been in progress by a contractor that's putting a pool in for us. This is the conceptual drawing we made for the contractor to go off of. Right now the backyard is in complete disarray lol
    PXL_20240331_003122774~2.jpg
This is what our backyard looks like right now LOL
PXL_20240331_013056950.jpgThis is what it looked like before construction began.

I've been threatening to do this for herbs, and upgrade from the keg tubs we're currently using. I'd like to do them staged, stair step them up.

This is the proper way to do it, about 2-4" up, and throw an PVC drain elbow on it. That way you'll hold some water that'll naturally wick up into the soil above. Probably doesn't matter as much w/succulents, but great option for veggies. Even better, use fill stone for the bottom, and add a PVC tube from that layer to above the soil, so you can water by filling up the stone substrate.

    Good advice.

I can't grow anything other than succulents, like veggies and fruits, because I have a nocturnal zoo going on. Raccoons, skunks, opossums, etc. that would turn it into a free buffet.

I have a damn chipmunk problem right now. Friggin Chip & Dale in my stack stone beds, turning it into Swiss cheese with all the burrows they’re digging from the edge of the beds to the middle, and back to the edge. I need to address that issue in the coming days.

Appreciate the kind words! It has been a project for sure but we love the fact that we can call it our own design

Beautiful job that looks great. Such a contrast from SW to NE with the typical home/landscaping. I'm digging that look you got going.

Finally got around to doing my basement bathroom. Last project of the interior of the house. Quick before and after. Ripped everything out to the studs.

You can explain it but you can't make them understand it.

That representation maybe to intricate for them, try drawing it in crayons with pretty colors, that may work better:deadhorse:

It tells ya right on the blueprints... 67.5... Subtract that from 90 and you get 22.5 .. just like @TILLY said ...

That's if the blueprints is for a 5/12 pitch... 5" drop for every 12"s

    12/12 would be a 45 degree angle...

He said it is a 5/12 pitch. He's building a shed. Now he's stuck on how to get the cut angles where it meets the top plate. He got as far as measuring the top edge and marking a line at the 5'4" and 5/16th. It's been years since I did any of this stuff.

Thinking is hard and sucks. Just tell him to get some brackets like these. I got something similar when I built my shed 20+ years ago.

Here was the winter project that dragged out pretty much allllll frigging winter.
    The dreaded living room.
The smallest linear wall had 5 yup 5 layers of wall paper, I wanted to shoot the past previous owners with a nail gun, with a nail gun it would take time, thus way they can feel the pain I went through to remove all of the wall paper.lol just kidding I don't want to offend anyone here.

It is funny how our brains work sometime. I loved scrolling through this thread to get inspiration and see what everyone is doing; but when I got deep into my new home projects I forgot it existed...

closed a few months ago on 5 acres in NW Florida with a pier home that was flipped by the guberment. So I have a lot to do, but with the announcement of our first/only kid on the way, we are trying to prioritize and focus.

The home has a metal roof and no gutters, but has a wrap around deck that catches most of the water runoff. The back was getting pitted pretty deep and we are debating a gravel driveway... so.. gravel test...

    upload_2024-4-5_9-24-10.png

    upload_2024-4-5_9-24-30.png

We made a paint run and are currently deciding which color for the living room:

    upload_2024-4-5_9-25-15.png

And got the brains/background installed on my IT/Nerd corner. Still need to wire hide and blah blah...

    upload_2024-4-5_9-25-56.png

But this is all the recent work that the truck helped with. Trying to get the workout/man space cleaned up so I can divert all focus to finishing unpacking and organizing.
