My buddy @texoma does VF tunes in Lago Vista, TX. He tuned my 06 Tundra and will hopefully be tuning my 03 tundra soon. Both v8's. Anyways, he has a 2nd gen taco 4.0 with long tubes and it sounds amazing.
But he blew the engine and has mentioned wanting to do an LS swap. Not sure what he's going to do.

yeah, i used it on a few older led lights for dust lights in the past so i had it laying around, but it really shines through nicely, these casings were crusty to begin with so ill replace them eventually but it holds up

I guess I'm showing my ignorance but I didn't know the tundra received the 4.0. Turns out it was available for 9 years.

That's a neat upgrade. Did you need a tune to go with it? How tough was the install? I wonder if such a thing exists for the 4.7.

I've talked to him before about getting a tune done and thats when I learned the Tundra 4.0 is not supported. I'm only about a 20 minute drive from him. You're making me want to do long tubes now.

Tune is not required although it is recommended. It was easy, if you can do valve covers you can do this. As @455h0le_dachshund said, the 4.0 has a timing chain vs. the belt on the 4.7 so I don't think that upgrade is possible.

I wonder if he's going to fix his 4.0 or swap in a V8 and sell his longtubes .

That sucks yours isn't supported. My 03 2uz isn't supported either, but he's going to hook up to it Sunday and send my ECM info off to OVTune and see if they can remedy it. Maybe he could do the same for you.

Finally strapped my rear light bar in. Added some lawnmower pull rope hooks for a light duty bungee. To keep the beer from sliding around.

I wonder if it's actually still rattling, but the tape is insulating the metal-on-metal contact?

    I would think so.

Today I installed the coveted in dash fog lamp switch @txagg sent me . Thanks buddy!

I also mounted 2 battery boxes and my inverter. I also ran lines inside the bed wall for my inverter. The breaker arrives tomorrow. Then I’ll wire it all up.

Lastly, the silver mirror caps had to go. Gloss black is way better with the gold wheels

Did I miss the post where you said what adventure you are prepping your truck for?
I used to have a mini microwave tucked in the side utility box of my work truck, so handy.
The inverter didn't like it so much, but once I put a solid strap of copper in place of the fuse it quit complaining... :anonymous:

You needed an inverter with the older electric impacts? Why not just get a corded unit?

Plastic trim removal tool. Start at the bottom of the mirror cap, separate enough to get the tool in there and slowly work around the outside to the top and then again at the bottom towards the inside. You will hear a pop when each tab releases. It will sound like it's breaking, but I've done this twice now and the tabs are still intact. @JakeJake has a good pic HERE of his removal.

The inverter was for misc stuff, prob the most used was a skillsaw. The makita was just a early cordless drill, used for drilling and some screwing. The makita is sitting to the left of the microwave w/a red battery pack on it.
