Kinda insane. I'm still trying to wrap my head around it. I know builders and the avg price per sq ft to build new is 400. Using this equation that's a 67,500 sq ft facility.

Honestly doesn’t surprise me. We built one for a local community of about 5-6k residents right before COVID and it was in the ballpark of $20mm. Add in the astronomical inflation of building supplies since then and construction wage increases, and it’s not off the mark.

Institutional construction of any kind has a significant number of added requirements that aren’t cheap. Add in the special requirements of a PD, and that’s an entirely new level. Communication systems, backup power, security, locker facilities, some form of detention area… it adds up. And unfortunately for smaller communities, many of those costs have a significant minimum threshold regardless of size.

Yeah I get it with all the added infrastructure that it's more expensive than even a fully decked out mansion. It's also likely because whenever the government gets involved prices go up no matter what. I'll never forget the joke about we used to say in the marine corps; paying Lockheed Martin $250 for a hammer. And that was 25 years ago.

    Yes
    Administration and bureaucracy cost money.
If all you need is an Estwing ball peen hammer, then tell me that’s what you need and I’ll supply them to you at my cost plus a markup to cover overhead and profit.

But if you send me 1000 pages of contracts and specifications telling me exact metal composition of the head and wood species of the handle (along with 37 forms to certify the responsible sourcing of that wood and genetic makeup of the tree it came from), and requiring me to house, feed, and cloth a government employee to inspect and sign off on every single hammer at every single step of manufacturing, then my price is going to reflect that effort.

If you are flying a MAX-9, you are right near the now world famous mid-exit door plug. Probably the safest location on any airplane right now

I'm not a stickler for detailing or pay much attention to whether or not the exterior is dirty, but one thing that causes me emotional distress is dirty glass.
Aside from needing new wipers, what's the best approach to cleaning glass and keeping it clean.
I park/work in an industrial area and get a lot of weird shit settling on the windshield.

Clean it, clay bar it, and add some glass ceramic (this bottle will usually cover an entire vehicle and a little more). Super easy to apply. It will allow the water to bead up, (roll off) and less shit sticking to your windshield. Pending your driving / vehicle washing habits it should last at least 6 months.

    Cool.
I've never used a clay bar.
    Any recommended brand?
Any tricks to using it, or is it idiot proof?

Auto zone. I would use a clay bar (not a mit) as its a bit more aggressive. Wash your vehicle as you would. For me, I like to use the foam as lubricant as it saves time. If not, use glass cleaner as lubricant. Once you feel the glass all smoothed out, clean it again and then apply and wipe down.
If you drop the clay bar on the ground, do not re-use it.

We used to say that in prison. If you drop the bar on the ground don't reuse it. Just leave it there and walk away like it never happened.

Me: Do you have the trailer keys?
    Her: It’s unlocked
    Me: <sigh>
    Her: I have been packing.
    It is open.
Oh, you must want to unlock something else.
    I don’t have them.
    <5 second pause to ensure she’s done…>
Me: So where are the keys?
Her: They are on the thing.

And now she looks puzzled why I am sitting quietly on the couch with a double G&T.
