The check engine light came on and the parts store said it was PO155 code - bank 2, sensor 1.
It is a 2000 Tundra 4.7. Is it hard to replace? Looks like it is under the manifold.

It’s on the underside of the exhaust manifold. You can see it if you crawl underneath. Not hard but you need the right hardware to do it. I use a 2ft flex head 1/2” drive ratchet with a special O2 socket to accommodate the wiring. Need to spray it down with rust penetrant for a few days and then attack it by going back and forth with the ratchet to break any rust bond.

    Couple things:
    • Only use Denso brand parts - this is one of those sensitive sensors that you should use the OE part to replace
    • Only use the Denso "Exact Fit" part, not the universal; you don't want to cut the harness for any reason
    • DO NOT buy the part off scAmazon, fleaBay, or any other vendor who has little or zero control of their supply chain, there are counterfeits on the market (Summit Racing, RockAuto are great options, often cheaper)
    • Ideally, replace the upstreadm and downstream sensor on the affected bank (i.e. passenger side is bank 2) to avoid other issues
You can look up the correct sensor part numbers at www.densoautoparts.com

Or if you give more details about your truck (i.e. V8, I assume? Is it 2WD or 4WD? What trim level?) I'm happy to pull part numbers for you.

+1 what Shifty’ said - no exceptions. Get the correct socket makes the job easier.

The parts guy said it was on the top of the engine but he was wrong as it is where you guys say it is. The downstream one was just replaced by a shop. It is a 4wd SR5, 4.7. Where do you get the socket? Around here the shop repair rates have gone through the roof. If possible you have to do the work yourself.

Local auto parts stores will rent the tool to you. They give your money back when you return it.

Tekton makes a solid one. Search for: Tekton Oxygen Sensor Socket

Make sure you get the correct size.
