I didn't, he has bought a couple of my rear bumpers now. He just recently put one on his new truck.

Mine is set for 43psi and my boost reference goes to 58 psi. No idle issues.

Thanks @Mdl for the information. I'm set at 58 PSI charting, figured that's closest to 60 at 13-14 Volts at wot..... Having no issues at partial throttle/WOT. Right in 10-10.7 range with PE flatlined 1.4 but idle is killing me lol

Also not sure why charting show as "Ethanol" seems odd

Finally getting a little time to measure intake restriction. I have a GM MAP sensor connected via the Prolink to the intake boot to measure pre-TB. At idle I'm seeing 95.7-96 kPa, stock intake WOT it drops to 89.2 at redline. Overall 7 kPa pressure drop really isn't that bad. Several online guides are saying 5-10 kPa drop is "good" and 10-20 is acceptable.

I planned to map this against boost PSI, but my 2nd MAP sensor has a mind of it's own.

Tomorrow I'll do a SABM first, log it. Then finally put in the Maggy box and log after I rescale the MAF.

I doubt 0.01 milliseconds is noticeable, especially since HPT rounds things off

Tuning with HPT, been running with torque converter flex apply/release disabled. From what I gather it is mainly for fuel economy. Should have asked beforehand but will this damage or help alleviate heating in the torque converter? Have lockup/release for 4/5/6 set at 1800/1500rpm as per @snivilous trans setup.

I haven't fucked with the flex settings at all, I don't think it really matters if you have the converter always locked to begin with. Mine gets considerably hotter when it's not locked up. I also pinned the thermostat and that dropped my trans temps by 30deg.

I read slownstock posts saying that after market torque converters may not have that function built in and are unable to run flex lock. I haven't noticed any additional heat or issues shifting. Its a partial lockup to aid in fuel savings and can induce additional heat. It only runs for a brief period at low rpm.

Ok, did 3 rounds of inlet restriction testing so far. All done with a GM 2bar map sensor connected to the stock intake boot, upstream of the TB. The measurements below are the difference from idle absolute pressure to the 6,000 RPM cell @ 130% load cell in HPT.

Round 1 - Stock '07 airbox, TRD drop in, medium dirty (not enough I'd normally clean it yet)
    delta-P: 6.7 kPa

Round 2 - Added SABM w/ 3" hose/ports into fender well. TRD drop in
    delta-P: 5 kPa

Round 3 - SABM w/ new WIX filter
    delta-P: 4.2 kPa

Round 4 - SABM, new WIX filter, change to Maggy 4" upper airbox (retuned/scaled MAF)
    delta-P 4.1 kPa

Sounds like I need to get an aFe dry filter that you guys are raving about and test it next. Ordered and due next week.

    *edit*
The round 4 is what surprised me, I didn't get as many pulls to redline as I'd like as the LTFT is maxing out and it's leaner than I would like under boost (10.5-11.0), so I cut it short and drove back home. I expected the larger MAF tube to drop it below 4 kPa...

    *edit #2*
Data here and below won't be apples to apples, because I swapped in an 80mm pulley which will pull more air and theoretically show any restrictions even more.

    Round 5 - All above w/ 80mm pulley
    delta-P 5.3 kPa

    *edit #3*

Round 6 - 80mm pulley, same WIX filter (less than 100 miles), Added a TRD accelerator
    delta-P 4.6 kPa

Round 7 - same as above w/ switch to AFE dry air filter
    delta-P 4.3 kPa

Looks like we have a winner. SABM, TRD accelerator, and AFE dry, although the WIX is VERY close 2nd.

I tried finding the test that was done awhile back that showed the wix filter (oem stock) flowed the best with decent filtration. I use the afe for ease of cleaning and savings over the long haul vs paper. I'd have no issue just running the wix.

Cool testing, thanks for sharing. Seems like the SABM made a big difference. Interesting results with the larger diameter tube. In reality I think it’s only .2 or .3” larger than stock so not even a full 1/2”. It probably would make a bigger difference with a larger than stock TB I’d guess.

This should be a pinned comment on the main Intake thread. Wonder if a SABM on a Stillen drops it down with any significance.

How about a variable SABM? Always thought it would be neat to program the the old variable intake manifold function from the ECU to open/close it at a certain load/RPM.

Installed one on my now sold 2009 Land Cruiser, never got around to finding someone to see if the ECU variable intake function can be adjusted. Same type of vsv vacuum valve operates this.

Just the valve… was hoping someone around here would look into the control part.

Valve is a Toyota OEM part. 17330-0A010 or 17330-20010.

Counter idea for @Mdl, what about making the ACIS control activate your water meth :D

EDIT: JK your tune doesn't have ACIS control since we have the TRD calibration lol

Dumb question, but what’s the benefit to having it open at a certain RPM rather than it just always be open?

We're planning on a similar valve for the old mans custom intake. One that can be open all the time then closed if needed for water/ heavy rains etc. Think we ordered an exhaust cut out type valve.

I finally got w/m worked out with the PE enrichment. I'll see a dip into high 9's for a second or 2 and got it to stay under 10.7 afr. I am seeing a decent 10.4-.6 afr under moderate boost. Stays at 10.6afr at about 11.8 psi.
Hope to do a wot run soon.
