Actually, OBD Fusion does support CarPlay now (as of v6.0.0 that came out about a month ago), doesn't say anything about AndroidAuto though so I'm not sure. You can't view graphical gauges on CarPlay but you can view the gauge name and value. I saw it on my car the other day and opened it, had a couple basic PID's setup like RPM and coolant temp, I just haven't had time to try adding more like voltage and transmission temp but you are supposed to be able to.

    OBD Fusion Support for CarPlay:

If you have OBD Fusion downloaded on your iPhone (not sure about Android) Fusion should show up on your home page in CarPlay. If it's not make sure to enable it from your phone settings.

@Gaston is right about no gauges we are limited to numerical values.

You add can PIDs to Display on CarPlay by following these steps:

    Go to Settings.
    IMG_3759.png

    Go to Preferences.
    IMG_3760.png

    Go to CarPlay.
    IMG_3761.png

Now you can see your pages and their PIDs. To add a sensor click configure. To change the logo of the page select an image. To change the name of the page select edit.
    IMG_3762.png

To edit existing PIDs simply click on them and follow the next step. You can customize the display name logos and names of pages.
    IMG_3763.png

This is the list of sensor groups available for me.
    IMG_3764.png

After this, you can see the sensors available for your truck. Select the one you want displayed and it’ll be added to the page.

This is one of my pages as an example:
    IMG_3882.jpg

I believe OBD Fusion isn’t supported on AA yet hopefully that changes soon as well as gauges and its ability to be multiscreen with maps or any other app.

    This seems odd to me.

    upload_2024-3-13_12-35-37.png

It seems it would be less distracting to have actual gauges appear vs text that needs to be read. Even in a 10" screen, more concentration would be required, I would think.

I agree gauges plus peripheral vision would be more helpful but we are limited to CarPlay's input-output regulations according to Fusion. Max PIDs per page is limited to 10 but this is a solid foundation to build off of hopefully they add more features.

I believe I read somewhere that it is a limitation to CarPlay not allowing the display of the gauges and if that ever changes OBDFusion does plan to work on gauges being displayed through CarPlay :fingerscrossed:

I contacted OBD Fusion tech support today about the possibility of adding Android Auto support for their app and here's the response:

Unfortunately, our app currently doesn't support Android Auto. We are looking into it, but Android Auto is currently somewhat limited in the information that can be displayed, plus Google is only allowing certain apps on Android Auto.
Very impressed in this day and age how quickly they got back to me.

I did find an app in the Google Play Store called DashOBD that does support AA and it does work but seems to have a limited number of PIDs to display. You can add custom PIDs so now I need to figure out where I can get the info to be able to do that.

    Thankyou for that effort.

I'm going to stick with obdf for the present. I was planning on running it off my phone anyways.

Just all the info being bantered about, I thought it would be a simple process.

    Just like normal. I'm wrong.

Ha! Simple... we can only wish. Actually I think I'm going to pester OBD Fusion a little more. I found the DashOBD app info in Reddit where the developer was announcing the availability of his app. Someone replied asking how he got it to be AA approved and it had something to do with it being published under the Internet of Things (IoT) category in the Play Store which hasn't been around very long.

I've been using the Car Scanner app but it's a bit clunky and I'd prefer having the info displayed on the big screen IYKWIM.

thanks for that! But,I don’t understand….. fusion told me the 22+ tundras weren’t supported. (Still can’t download vehicle add on) but yet we can get this stuff to display on CarPlay?

can you explain this? (Feel free to dumb it down for this dummie)

That's good information. I have an old iPhone that would show Fusion so that why I assume it wasn't supported. It would be nice when Android auto becomes available. My new phone is a Samsung.

Oh, I see what you mean. I didn't purchase any extra addons through OBD Fusion. I wonder if I could get away with purchasing a Toyota/Lexus 2017-2018 addon since that's probably when our ECU and TCU came out.

I primarily used Car Scanner until I realized OBD Fusion was supported through CP so I'm still learning it too. I believe OF is still working to implement 22+ Tundra's computer units which is why they told you there is no support. That doesn't mean CP to OF connection isn't supported by 22+ Tundras. CarPlay is its own platform like AA so it controls what can be added and what not. Hope this helps.

An update on the DashOBD app I found yesterday.. It does work but it doesn't pop up in the AA list of apps on the truck consistently. I haven't figured out what sequence of connect/disconnect/bluetooth on - off gets it to work. I also got a message last night on my Samsung S22 that the DashOBD app was sucking my battery down quite fast so I removed the app.

I did send another note to OBD Fusion letting them know there was another app out there on AA and I'll report back what they say.

Update on communication with OBD Fusion....

Once again the support person got right back to me which is awesome. He said that based on my original communication with him (prior to me telling him about the other AA approved app I found) they had actually started looking into getting their app approved for AA. I don't want to get too excited yet just to keep the jinx factor low but it was pretty nice to hear they were considering it.

BTW, I gave them a link to this thread so please only say nice things about OBD Fusion from now on:):D:thumbsup:.

    And also keep :fingerscrossed:

Maybe, I'm on Version 15.8.2. It's on an old iPhone 6 that I use for Carplay instead of my primary phone which is a Samsung. I like Carplay better than Android Auto so just use the IPhone in the truck.

Just got my VeePeak BLE and downloaded OBD Fusion. Have my first dash setup, interested to see some performance data on my next tow. Thanks to all on this thread that blazed the trail and shared some setup info! After I get done tinkering with it on my 2019, I might set it up for my 2000 also.

Setup a towing screen for my next trip. The fuel available and MPG are only red due to an alarm value I set for low readings. Interestingly enough, I’ve got 77k miles and have pulled my 8k# travel trailer at least 15 times about an hour or so up to 3 hours in S4 with T/H and my ATF degradation is at 4900. Not bad for never having changed the fluid. Doing a drain and fill at the next oil change.

OBD Fusion has released a version that is compatible with Android Auto. They let me beta test for a couple of weeks and it seems to work well but it's only able to display text lines just like the CarPlay version. This is a limitation of AA and it's unknown if that will ever change. Also, they are working on PIDs for the 3rd gen but no release date set.

    The current version is 6.2.0.

I've played with the CarPlay version a bit and actually don't mind the text lines.

Has anyone been able to get a user defined PID for trans temp working with OBD Fusion on a Gen 3 Tundra? I tried these and they didn't work. Also tried changing Mode and PID to 21d9 as suggested in post #263 and no luck. Not the end of the world if I can't get it to work but thought I would try while we're waiting for OBD Fusion to release new PIDs for Gen 3.

    Mode and PID: 2182
    min value: 0
    max value: 350
    scale factor: 1x
    unit: F
    equation: ((((A*256)+B)*(7/100)-400)/10)
    ODB header: auto

    Mode and PID: 2182
    min value: 0
    max value: 350
    scale factor: 1x
    unit: F
    equation: ((((E*256)+F)*(7/100)-400)/10)
    ODB header: auto

Any ideas, help, suggestions would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Noob question here…but is it normal with the OBDfusion and veepeak ble+ adapter to drop connection during a phone call. Every time I get a call it loses connection and I need to reconnect
