Lunar Rock Paint Code Question

Hello, first time poster, long term lurker.

I recently purchased a new 2024 Tundra Limited Hybrid in lunar rock, its my first truck and I love it so far, I will likely have some questions ongoing, so thanks in advance.

I do have a small rock chip that I wanted to touch up. ( I did see the other thread in regards to this exact question but it didn't really answer my question directly.)

I looked online the paint code is 6x3.

I purchased the paint pen from the Toyota dealership and its full code is C0355-006X3 on the pen. When I look online the full code is

$14 00258-006X3-21 Touch up Paint Lunar Rock

00258-006X3-21.

So the 6x3 is the same but the entire code is different. I was hoping to see if this is a concern or if the 6x3 is all that matters and I should be fine with the pen I got?

Hello, yes can confirm my vin was provided to the parts counter at the dealership

 

6X3 is all that matters.

That is the lunar rock colour code.

 

dealer paint pens are not a good purchase. Check out dr color chip or lankga. If your Canadian,check out chipfixx.ca

easier to “blend”

 

Why are they not a good purchase? Going to need some frame of reference for that assertion.

 

I was unable to,get a good looking result. The tips aren’t “fine” but broad. The places I mentioned are a pain but the results are better. Especially with a color like lunar. It shows blemishes more.

if you don’t care about cosmetics and simply want to seal the chip, the pen is fine.

 

I have a friend that’s a professional automotive painter and he’s had a really hard time getting an “out the box” product to match. He had them scan his 4Runner and make a custom batch but he still had to add gray or green.

 

It’s also a shade variation between metal and plastic.
