Yeah, that would make a difference if we could only keep a small bank.

 

I get 80hrs each year. At the end of the year, 50% of the remaining hrs go into a “bank” that can be tapped if you happen to exceed your annual allotment. The other 50% disappear.

When you retire/leave the company they cash out this reserve at about half your normal hourly rate. And there’s a cap on the total payout. Better than a poke in the eye, but…

 

It was a local microbrewery. Maybe we had the happy hour Wednesday price. So technically the bill should have been closer to $100…

 

Think I only had about ten of the Hall cough drops today. Practically going thru withdrawals.

We had vac cap of 480hrs at the end of the year (that's what you could carry over); sick was unlimited...

By year 8 I was taking 7-8 weeks off each year to not lose any time at the year end (counting earned vacation each year, plus 10hrs of holiday time here and there)...

Full cash out on vaca at retirement, plus sell back 50% of remaining sick at 100% hourly rate... I left w/480 vaca, plus 2100hrs of sick, so paid out over 1500hrs of 100% hourly at retirement.

 

Yeah, sick pay doesn't pay out when you quit/retire/get fired here. Vacation does. I try to burn up some vacation as it goes, because they used to only let you roll 40 hours into the next year. You started the year with the full amount though, because you were accruing it the year previous. They just made some changes that up the amount of vacation by a week, but I need to read the fine print and see if the rollover died with that change.

That’s been a New Year’s resolution for me. No more candy or desserts. I have implemented my father’s one-bite dessert policy. So far this year I have had one piece of candy and only 4 bites of dessert.

And leave it to my coworkers to start bringing in candy now…
