Yes, that was simply an example...maybe a291VQB? I'm interested in SR231VRB.

Just picked up our new 2023 Grand Design Imagine XLS 23LDE. Towed it about 150 miles home over a few passes and still managed to get 10mpg which I found impressive.

Still need to figure out some weight distribution issues as there was a good amount of porpoising which leads me to believe the tongue is too light (rear kitchen model) but it towed great otherwise.

May I suggest looking into a RAS (Road Active Suspension) system. I should have put mine on my truck years ago. what a difference.

To light of a tongue weight would give you dog wagging its tail sway at speeds over 40mph or so. Porpoising is more likely weight distribution hitch not set up correctly or rear suspension too soft.

Got a tiny bit of sway on the freeway at speed with some passing rigs but not much. And the porpoising was really only on rough, bumpy sections of road. Just more harsh feeling than I’m used to.

As for the WDH, we didn’t put a ton of work into the setup. Really just set it to the point that the truck looked about level and took off.

I bet some WDH setup tweaks will help a lot then.

Huge fan of hitting a cat scale. It takes out the guess work. And you can do it all on your phone.

I have found that having an hitch head that can go up or down and a built in tongue scale really makes it simple.

We have a Weighsafe WDH with a 6" adjustable shank. I have this on my other truck and when I got the Tundra, it was very simple to swap over and adjust. I just level the truck and trailer before connecting then slide the hitch head up or down to get the ball at the right height for the coupler (the hitch has 1" vertical increments). Then lift the trailer and slip the truck under the coupler and lower the trailer onto it. Then reading the scale which tells me the tongue weight, I input that into their handy app (only need it the very first time). The app gives me a WD value to dial in on the same scale. It is adjusted with a large top nut. pretty simple to get a good load on the load bars without going too far.

The big challenge is having rear air suspension as it can change the WD applied to the bars and I can only imagine AVS trying to lift/level the rear and removing the WD pressure. The truck looks level but there is little to no WD force applied to the bars. If the bars require friction on the "J" brackets to help with sway, this would make that part less functional as well. Depends on the way the hitch handles sway.

I have been looking at the RAS Road Active Suspension for a while. I waited and they just posted their Black Friday sale yesterday. I ordered it and saved over $100 bucks. If you have been waiting, now is a good time.

Maybe the largest load towed to date for us. Used my buddies 2016 Platinum on stock suspension with the TRD rear sway bar. Trailer is rated for 14k pounds on HD axles with both axle brakes, and mini X rings around 9k pounds. Setup is around 11-11.5k. Mini was positioned to put around 1200# of tongue weight on the hitch. Used tow/haul mode and S4 and pulled around 55-60mph the whole way. Thing towed great. Never even wiggled the truck. Plenty of power. Over payload I’m sure by 100 or so pounds and over max towing for this config by a couple thousand.

Wow. He appears to be a genius. And he did prove his hypothesis of “Can a 2023 Tundra pull a 10,000# trailer?”. It appears it can. Next video, which I’m absolutely sure he is incapable of, “should a 2023 Tundra pull a 10,000# camper?” While driving with one hand, with my children onboard. And then put it on a ferry. His appetite for danger is more awkward than mine. But equally as high.

Not the greatest idea pulling that 10k pounds with one hand on the steering wheel while the other is holding a camera out the window while having kids in the truck.

What OBD II/App are you using? I know there are tons of them, so trying to wade through them all. I like yours but you don't mention the name or any specifics in your video. Thanks!

It tows nice, quite livable (our home for 7 months out of the year) but the usual collection of crap out of Indiana. I bought it new August '21 and have about 13,000 miles on it so far. Actually it's held up well since these are designed to be used only a few weeks out of the year and since we bought it we've lived in it for over half that time.
