Hi our Tundra will not rev past 2500 rpms when driving up a hill in 2wh (regular road) tried 4 hi didn't change, tried manually gearing up (it's an automatic). it changes nothing, neither does gearing down. The engine light is on, so it's going in for a check. The only other thing I have noticed being off is the oil temp. When I start the car, it's now past medium line. Not so high as 3/4 not sure if that is part of it. Hoping to get some ideas on what it could be, before going into dealership.

I think once you find out what codes are triggering the check engine light, you will have a better idea why it won't go past 2500 RPMs.

Please let us know what the tech reported.

Techs can sometimes not answer your questions if they think they are dealing with a novice.

Possible limp mode due to the secondary air injection pump (SAIP) failure. A trip to autozone or Oreilly's would help you get codes for free99 vs $120 diagnostic fee. Once you have codes there's a wealth of knowldege on here that can guide you on track more or less

Is the check engine light flashing or blinking? If so, you might be in limp mode.

Like others have said, get the codes read so you can diagnose the problem(s).

Hi everyone that's exactly what it is, it's in limp mode and code came back for the secondary air injection pump. my friend said to take the pump out and cap it.

That's exactly why I now go in these fora. I've been scammed enough. I also have a Tacoma and I am having an issue with the front diff actuator according to their code. I bought the Tacoma ( 2016) at Toyota dealership in 2019. It's always gone for maintenance and any issues to the dealership, they call me and say the issue I have is because someone put an aftermarket piece on it, and it looks way too clean ( basically accusing me of having it replaced). I don't know who put that piece there but it wasn't us. As these things go, the warranty on the power train ran out in July 2023. We barely have a 100 k om that vehicle. But lucky they have a decent manager who now wants to work something out. I just feel like if you don't go half informed.. they just add whatever. The computer said it's an issue with the front diff actuator.doenst mean it's the piece itself, could also be electrical between button and ecu or ecu and ADD... But they don't account for that. Just replace the piece without checking first ... And I'd get that IF they would not make me pay for all that work when they find out is is NOT the actuator itself.
